i have been breast feeding my 6 month old twin boy/girl 3 times a day and also my 3 year old daughter at night. My twins has just started solids and my son is now struggling to breast feed. Should i get some formula and bottle feed him now? And just continue to feed my 2 girls?

I commend you on nursing all of your children. If your son is just starting to struggle with nursing. From the info provided it dosn't seem like your 3 year old is a factor in this struggle so I don't see why you should wean her as others may have suggested. Why would formula work and not breastmilk? - I don't think a baby would prefer a bottle over the breast unless he is already used to it. He is only six months old maybe the solids are confusing him a bit. I would keep at trying the breast. Maybe ease off the solids a bit with him and try to nurse him more often. Best of luck to you.

You don't specify how he is struggling to feed, but be that as it may, the younger children need to be on the breast more than the three year old. Take her off the breast altogether, and let the twins suckle until they are more on solid foods. It wouldn't hurt to supplement with formula if you are unsure of how much nutrition the boy is receiving from the breast. It is my opinion that keeping a child on the breast for longer than two years is unnecessary. I weaned all of my children from bottle or breast at two years of age, but everyone is different in child rearing methods. It is just an option you may want to consider.
Good luck

Honey? If you are struggling to feed all of them (congratulations on the twins...they are special, lol, I am one), by all means, supplement with formula. There is nothing wrong with formula, and breast feeding is effective for all the good stuff they need only for about the first year. Anything after that just means you need to break your older baby off the boob. Good luck sweetie.

You are in a nontypical situation.. Why don't you consider calling your local La Leche League Leader? THey would be very supportive of what your doing and try to be very helpful with the breastfeeding problems.
The toll free number in the usa is 1800-laleche

I would wean the oldest one and keep the babies on the boob. It is best for them. The 3 year old should be getting all of her nutrients from regular food and vitamins.
Keep the babies on. They need it more than the 3 year old.
I couldn't imagine breastfeeding at 3 years old....
Feed the little ones first and if there is anything left let the oldest one have it.

congrats on yoiur twins
i would advise you to supplement with formular for the twins
or if they have statrted solids and you insist you dont want formular then continue with the breastfeeding but my derar you are also a human being that needs to be looked after, and you have to do it by yourself , i think breastfeeding the 3yearold is not necessary at this point. You done very well for her wean her off it entirely and tell her its now for her twin siblings trust me she would understand.
please you have to be well to take care of these 3kids so look after your own self to be able to do this
having twins it quite challenging.Congrats and god luck
