<<< they have to be currently playing >>>
<<< they have to be UNDER-rated - Sakic, Crosby, Ovechkin, Brodeur, Lidstrom, etc don't count cuz they are considered the BEST at what they do... were talking UNDER-rated >>>
<<< PLEASE go by position or if you can't then just name your top five >>>
please don't just throw out names. give it some thought and give reasons for your answers - convince me that they are under-rated and tell me why - what makes them so special?

MrNaturl et. all... if you don't want to answer the question then don't. you're getting 2 points for a good answer or a bad one. this question was posed for the people who actually want to put in a little effort, put on their thinking caps, and show what they know... not for people who just want to give a 1 or 2 word answer so they can pick up 2 points. it's 2 points... same as a win in hockey... you're supposed to earn a win, right?

This is my most underrated team in the NHL for this season.
C: Brian Rolston
LW: Andrew Brunette
RW: David Vyborny
D: Roman Hamrlik
D: Tom Poti
G: Olaf Kolzig
The most underrated goalie in the NHL is by far Olaf Kolzig in my opinion. The Caps showed last month how dreadful they are without him, winning only 1 game when Kolzig was out with injury for like 14 straight games).
I am a NYR and Tom Poti got a lot of booing from the NYR fans when he was a Ranger. I never thought he was half as bad as the boo birds seemed to think he was. He just wasn't very physical. I've seen him play for the Isles a decent amount of games this year and he is their #1 dman, he leads the team in ice time and he takes the body a lot more.
Roman Hamrlik is a very good dman who gets the job done in his own end, is pretty good offensively and has a rocket for a shot. He is never mentioned much because of Calgary's other great dman (Phaneuf).
Brian Rolston does it all, in my opinion he is the best 2 way player in the NHL. He is one of the best PK men in the NHL but also is one of the kep parts of the Wild PP. He can play any forward position, he plays a lot of RW but I put him at center to make my team the way I wanted it.
Andrew Brunette & David Vyborny are very important players on their respective teams. You don't hear much about them, but their names are always on the scoresheet. Often they get forgotten because of their quality teammates. Brunette has to compete with guys like Sakic, Hejduk and Statsny while Vyborny has Nash, Fedorov and Zherdev who steal the spotlight. Both are consistent players.

I'm not writing a freakin' book on it, but here's my picks.
Center: Todd Marchant. Fantastic penalty killer, leader, and speedster. I can't believe he never gets much Selke attention. He was hurt awhile this year, and the Ducks went into a slump. It was not a coincidence. He'll only score when absolutely necessary, but he's a team player and the kind of spark plug a playoff team needs.
Right Wing: Steve Sullivan. He scores consistently and plays hard every shift. Toronto never gave him a fair shake, and the Blackhawks perennial suckiness overshadowed his abilities. Now Nashville is reaping the rewards for his persistence and skill. Too bad he's having back problems.
Left Wing: Cory Stillman. Injuries ruined most of his season this year, which is a shame. That said, he does everything. Kills penalties. Scores goals. Passes. Plays good defense. Can play left wing OR center. He was a big part of the Lightning's Cup run a few years ago, and hardly got any credit. I guarantee they would not have done it without him.
Defense: Dan Boyle. It doesn't matter how much he scores, how good his +/- is, how much leadership he provides, how many games the Lightning wins, or how many times he bails out their lousy goaltending... Boyle is always treated like a second-rate defenseman. I wish he played for MY favorite time, that's all I'll say!
Goalie: Olaf Kolzig. If he ever had a decent team, he'd be a force in this league. Too bad he'll be over the hill before the Caps ever make the playoffs.
Heh, heh. I guess I did write a book on this afterall. :-P

Forwards
Hank and Daniel Sedin- They have realized their potential in a massive way this season, (daniel having his first 30 goal season, and hank breaking franchise records for assists) and yet no one talks about them until they've scored nine points and the other team has lost. This is maybe just because they play for Van. and not Toronto or Montreal. But I gotta feel like someone on my favortie team is underrated right?
Pavel Datsyuk- Ridiculous skills, has the benefit of playing on a high profile team, but in my opinion, he needs to be talked about alot, lot more.
Jason Arnott- Big, strong and quick, he reminds me of Bertuzzi in his good years.
Andrew Brunette- 25 goals, 50 assists? Why is he underrated.
Zach Parise- Let's face it, Marty can't score goals for the devils, and this guy has been the other reason why the devils are still in it with their depleated forward lines.
Defence
Kevin Bieksa- Most announcers cannot even pronounce his name, but people are starting to notice the close to 40 point season he is having so far.
Jay Bouwmeester- He's having a great season, but he's simply underrated because of the team he plays for.
Brent Burns- What a monster this guy is going to be. That's all that I can say. Yes, he is underrated because he is young, but he's got some of the best hockey instincts around. Just watch.
Goalies
Martin Biron- is waaayyy to good to have been a backup for so long. In the short time that he has been in Philly, he makes this team look presentable, and in my opinion, he may be near the level of Luongo or Brodeur in a few years. He just gives his team a chance to win.
Chris Mason- Another reason why the Preds have been so tough to beat this year. I think he gives the team so much of a chance even when their top goalie is taking a night off. Nashville is lucky to have a great backup and I wouldn't be suprised if he's a starter somewhere next year.
Coach
I know you meant players, but let's face it. Alain Vigneault deserves the Jack Adams this year and I will riot if he doesn't get it. He takes a team that misses the playoffs last year, and they will probably win the NW this year. He got everyone to swtich to an entirely new system with a lot of new players, and it worked. Bravo. Sorry for being biased.

C-Matt Cullen(he is a great player. he kills penalties he has a wicked wrister and some nice moves. he's only a third line center but i belive he could be a first liner with some other talented players)
W-Jay Pandolfo(there's so many things about him where shall i start? he goes up against the biggest names in the game and keeps them to usually no points and one or two shots. he cuts off angles so well that they usually get so frustrated at him. yagr fro example tried to punch him last year in the playoffs and hurt his shoulder(lmao). he can also contribute offensively)
W-Micheal Nylander(he is having a great season breaking his personal records. he's very speedy, has a great shot and is a wiz around the net.)
D-Brian Rafalski(he is a great defensman. when going up against players such as crosby or ovechkin he just lightly knocks the puck away from them and out works them. he takes many hits but pops back up. he can make insanely smart plays when other players are on a breakaway and not take a penalty. he can also contribute offensivly. he scored 4 goals in a couple games so far. and he always picks it up in the playoffs)
D-Paul Marttin(he's a very skiller defensman. twice so far this year he has just picked his way from the defensive zone through all the players and made an amazing play. last night he scored against ryan miller doing that. and against the HABS i think he did that, made a pass between huet's blocker(which was on the ice) and pad to mike rupp who scored. and of course he's a defensman)
Goalie-Henrik Lundqvist(he has only been recognized for his brilliance this past week or so. he's been like this since the start of his careeer. he's a very sold goalie and very athletic. he's really the only reason that the ragrs aren't worse than the flyers this year, with him healthy and in net, adn the ragrs healthy, they can be a dangerous team in the playoffs)
sorry it's a bit devil heavy

Mine would be:
Yanic Perreault-best face-off amn in the NHL but seems to have a hard time finding a job
John Madden-one of the best defensive players in the league
Zach Parise-kind of gets lost in all of the Ovechkin/Crosby hype
John Michael Liles-a real PP force
Beauchimen-Dman for the Ducks where Neidermeyer and Pronger get all the attention
Backstrom-my choice for ROY

The FLyers are not as bad as they seem. They made some great trades and will have a top pick in the draft. Just signed Biron to a 2 year deal. This team will return in the 07-08 season. I promise.

Thank you for asking this query as you supply me a danger to vent. The so much over rated staff fingers down is Wisconsin. They're well, I'll supply them that, however now not #five. Last yr they did not play Ohio State that's why they went eleven-a million. When you play in a convention in which 6 out of eleven groups are not even bowl eligible, you do not play the excellent staff, and lose to the moment excellent, you higher cross eleven-a million. Their so much spectacular win within the constant season used to be towards eight-four Penn State. I imply whoopdy do! I picked the highest three groups within the tremendous ten to lose their bowl video games final yr and used to be proper on two out of three. Somehow, Wisconsin controlled to overcome Darren Mcfadden for his or her most effective spectacular win of the yr which individually nonetheless is not sufficient to be ranked #five. EDIT: Luv to Vacation. I'm now not a badgers fan however it sounds as if i do know them higher than you. Wisconsin DID NOT play Ohio State. They performed Michigan and Lost by means of 14. They did not play Ohio State in 2006, that's why they went eleven-a million. If you're keen on the badgers such a lot get YOUR details immediately. Or is it simply as difficult so that you can consider they are ranked #five with out gambling Ohio State as it's for me?

this is my under-rated team for this year.
C- Marc Savard (BOS) following up from last year.
LW- Ray Whitney (CAR) having career year in 15 years.
RW- Shane Doan (PHO) playing on a really crappy team.
D- Dan Boyle (TB) great year but not talked about.
D- Brian Rafalski (NJ) the team is always talked about their defencive game, and he rakes up the points.
G- Ray Emery (OTT) stepped up for the Sens when they where down and out in the first half of the season.
Cros871>>>so you really believe that Luongo, Sakic, Hossa and Havlat are under-rated common now. these are elite stars for their teams the most talk about on their teams.
GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
