There is some evidence that depression is herediatry, but just because your mom is, doesn't mean that you will be. However, if it is something that you are worried about, go talk to your doctor and see what he/she has to say. Do you ever feel depressed? Do you understand what real depression is? Do some research, seek to understand yourself.

Good luck to you.

Yes Ma'am it certainly can and often IS. If you think you might be engineered for depression (there's only a 50/50 chance) then prepare yourself for combat. Determine that it won't happen to you because you will either prevent it or climb out of it using every tool known to science, as of this date. Now, you have a lot of reading and studying to do, don't you? Yes, you certainly do. @8-)

Yes, depression can be hereditary. Don't spend your time worrying about whether or not it will happen to you down the road. Many times it skips a generation. Live life to the fullest, be happy and don't dwell on it.

It CAN be passed down, bit it DOESN'T HAVE TO be passed down. You also have the advantage of knowing how to approach it if it happens to you.
