Normally depth of focus in a photo shows the foreground blurred, and the distance blurred, with the middle ground in nice clear focus.

But is it physically possible to reverse that effect?
Can a lens put the foreground and background in focus, while making objects in the middle ground look blurred?

No, you can only focus on one area at a time.

Yes the foreground and background are both out of focus and the opposite of out of focus is in focus, but by 'reversing' the effects would still render the back and foreground out of focus because they are out of focus for different reasons - the background is in long focus, and when 'reversed' will be in short focus and vice versa. i.e. They will still be out of focus.
