The simple fact of the matter is we can't. Britain does not have a large army - we don't really have enough troops to be able to fight in Afghanistan and Iraq as it is. Iran on the other hand has a VERY large army - more than a million. If we declared war on Iran, Iran would almost certainly 'liberate' Iraq from the US and UK and make it an Islamic republic like itself. The UK simply couldn't win.

In addition, Blair is not a dictator. He needs to get parliament to approve a war, something that could take weeks - and it would only come into effect if parliament approved it, something they are HIGHLY unlikely to do. If it turns out we need to rescue them then why not put the SAS to the use they exist for?

Britishers have no right to enter into / tresspass the Iranian Territory, in fact they have committed the offences as per the law of the land (Iran).

What Britishers will do if Iranian or anybody else tresspass into the the British territory.

Best solution is negotiate with the Iranian and get resolve the issue, otherwise if have guts fight with Iranians and with the entire world.

That's a good question. The Iranians certainly broke international law by detaining uniformed British soldiers. That is considered, by some countries, an act of war. The Israelis responded quickly when Hezbollah and Hamas terrorists kidnapped their soldiers. I see no difference in this case. A message must be sent to Iran that they have no right taking a soldier from another nation against their will, nor deny them access to international inspectors or the Red Cross.

I vote that Iran gets bombed back into the Stone Age.

Do you think declaring a war is as easy as buying Big Mac?

There are processes and requirements which has to be achieved and also its citizen's approval. It can be done but it takes time. Britain practices a democracy type of parliament not dictatorship.

Also, wars shld be prevented not encouraged. Just bcs Brits say tht their soldier was not in Iran's teritory doesnt mean they are right, it could be just an excuse, How do we know who is telling the truth? We dont even know wht the hack is going on in Iraq....we entered bcs of mass destruction weapons, until now we havent got anything except sucking their oil.

WAR SHLD BE PREVENTED NOT ENCOURAGED BCS WAR NEVER SOLVES ANYTHING. WAR CREATES ANOTHER WAR WHICH LEADS TO ANOTHER WAR, DESTROYING EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE.

WE DONT WANT WORLD WAR III.....WAR SHLD BE PREVENTED NOT ENCOURAGED.

I don't think 15 brits captured should start war with iran the brits can either say if we don't get them back iran will lose ties for trading and the whole world will watch as you have taken them as prisoners
(while they were not even in Iranian waters)

They are pushing to see how far they can go, if there is no retaliation, Iran will feel more embolden! Something must be done, however, we must not play into their hand. Remember they invented Chess...

War is the last resort. Exhaust all diplomatic possibilities first.

Be prepared to resort to war if all other efforts fail.

Don't wait 12 years and 16 UN "Resolutions" like the US did in Iraq.

Why not try negotiations first before they go jumping into devastating military recourse. The real question is this. Why is Iran trying to provoke war? And yes this looks like another Iran-Contra hostage situation.
