Hi MissDfi. Pure water is high-quality bottled spring water, or water filtered by a high quality water filter.

Everyone needs a minimum of eight 8-ounce glasses of pure water spaced evenly throughout the day.

Water is important to all bodily processes say medical experts. Water carries nutrients, hormones, and disease fighting cells and antibodies to and from body organs through the bloodstream. Water carries carbon dioxide and waste products to the lungs, intestinal tract and kidneys to be excreted.

Hypertension, circulation disorders, kidney stones, arthritis, indigestion and constipation are all common disorders found in elderly people that can be directly, or indirectly, caused in inadequate water intake. Over the age of 65 thirst diminishes and a person is not likely to drink without consciously thinking about it. Please look article:http://www.askedweb.com/askedweb/Elderly_Need_To_Drink_More_Water/

There are good filters with Ultraviolet lamp units so that suspended matter, dissolved gases and bacteria + virus are removed / destroyed. In India, such units cost about 5 to 6 thousand rupees (in dollar terms about 125 to 150 dollars) and such units may cost less in USA (if you are residing there). The running cost is negligible. Once in a few months, you need to replace the resins and in a few years, the quartz lamp in the UV section.

The kind of filters that you can buy in supermarkets and hardware stores are pretty good. They remove nitrates from the water and also filter out other chemical traces such as chlorine from purification.

They are cheaper and much greener than buying bottled water.

They will not generally deal with bacterial contamination, though.

You can get spring water delivered in most areas in big 6 gallon jugs for about $5-6 a jug plus deposit. Filters are a pain but also work. Get a combo reverse osmosis/carbon filter and be sure to change them regularly.

at home, there was a spring that we found that spouted fresh spring water all the time. we would drive there and fill up 10-20 gallons at a time. besides gas (maybe 25 cents worth, tops), it was the best way to get clean, pure spring water

check it out and see if you can find one anywhere near you
