It's nice to have questions that can be flavourful for humour as well as for sincere interest as well. No, your question is not a funny one, but simply one of pleasantry. It reminds me of the question regarding hanging the toilet paper rolling off the top or from the bottom...
How many towels...???
Well, as my hair retains water, I use a hand towel for just my hair. That really gets soaked enough to render it useless elsewhere.
For my face and underams I use a hand towel, a very soft one that has first been placed under my heat lamp as I apply baby oil to these areas just prior to leaving my bath or shower and the wamrth is very soothing.
For my most intimate places, I also have applied baby oil and use an additional heated and very soft hand towel. This, of course, gives drying off an entirely new meaning !
I use a bath towel for the rest of my body with my feet being the final destination for drying. I then use that towel for wiping the faucet fixtures and I am then ready for dress after a trip to the scale for a weight check.
That comes to 1 bath towel and 3 hand towels.

One towel. Hey if you took a shower or bath you should be clean. As such there isn't really a need for a second towel.

One towel only. Two would mean I'm bulking my laundry. I dry first my face, then my head and body.
