Difficult to say with precision. In ancient times, only the wealthy had access to education, and that was always done by private tutors. Formal schools were relatively late in developing. Possibly, Plato's Acadamy (founded in 385 BCE) was one of the first.

The first recorded schools are reported to have been established in Ancient Babylon c.1600 b.c.. These were for the training of scribes to write on cruciform tablets.

The first recorded instances of young people being requireds to attend schools occur in Ancient Athens c.500 b.c.. Laws were passed requiring male children to be educated. The method of education was left open to the parents. Some would hire private teachers whilst others would send their sons to the many private schools that existed in the city.

A reformation in learning during the early medieval era saw the first establishment in Western Europe of Church schools and Universities.

Schools, as an educational instituion, have been around since the dawn of society in one form or another. The people of the neolithic age taught artisans through apprenticeship, as did the Sumerians. Schools, as an actual structure, were probably also constructed in ancient Sumeria. The Greeks and Romans developed the first modern school systems.

I very much doubt if there is an answer to that one. Schools have been around for over three thousand years and even some signs of them being around as early as six thousand years ago.
