Do you think people might live longer because they can essentially just convince themselves that they are young? And this might lead to a positive outlook on life, leading to less stress, and maybe just a longer life? Wouldn't that just be crazy to only have maybe a small idea about how old you might be?? One would live not based on their age. It wouldn't be a matter of "act your age"...it would be a completely different manner of maturing and going through life. I think i would like that...

I like that idea. I have always tried to live how I want to and do the things I enjoy and not try to "act my age" all the time. I don't think people should be so worried about "acting" their age, but should just live their life and enjoy it to the best of their ability. My Mother in law is a perfect example of not thinking about your age in numbers. She is 85 yrs old and still works 6 days a week as a private nurse to an "elderly" woman. She rides on the back of my brother in laws Harley and loves to live and have a good time. She doesn't dress like an old lady either. She is always very fashionably dressed and has maintained a great figure all these years. It's crazy. But I think this is how we should all live. Enjoy life and quit worrying about numbers. Besides, what is a 30 yr old or 40 yr old "supposed" to act like? There are no rules to dictate the right way to act for a certain age. Just be who you are and have fun. Life is too short to worry about numbers.

I don't think not knowing your age has anything to do with living longer.. etc.
But you have a quite imaginative and beautiful idea there... could be possible.
My great grandfather, didn't really know how old he was. When he was born, the calendar was not yet famous during that time. What they know is that he was born when the moon was half... it was the time when the birds flew to the south...or things like that. He lived a very long life.. I was 5 when he passed away (I'm 3rd in rank in my family). Their guess is he was more than 90 yrs old. Who knows... maybe more.
He has lived a simple life.. very wise that's what they say.. and I think what made him live that long is because of his simple lifestyle, food which he picked up straight from his garden.. all natural, not preserved..etc.

Anyway, you have a good point...

Can I answer this with a riddle? Yes, ok.
So...agree with you & my answer is the same as the last sentence...
Little Johnny is in math class, the teacher asks if 4 birds are sitting on a branch and she shoots 1 how many would be left? He says hmmm... hmmmm... wel none, they would all fly away at the gunshot. She says the answer is 3, but I like the way you think.
After class little Johnny asks the teacher how she would know which woman is married at the ice cream stand. A woman licking around her ice cream cone, or the woman eating the sunday? She replies that she would guess that the one licking the ice cream cone is married. Johhny says no, the one with the wedding ring on...
BUT I LIKE THE WAY YOU THINK.

We would never know if we were living longer, because we wouldn't know how old we were. :-)
I know that's not what you meant, so -
Yes I agree, the average human lifespan would increase with less stress, but how do you get around the fact that there are undeniable differences between young children, and seniors, and where ever we are in our life cycle it's obvious that we were young, and we will be old ( hopefully )
It's a nice concept.

its a really good question.
well there will be a few problems at first.
when to vote, drive, etc.
But in the larger scheme of things i suppose we would all be a lot less worried in our old age.(at least those who fear death). we wouldnt think "well i am 60 now, so that trip to the himalayas is out of the qustion for me."
but on the other hand we might also shirk away from responsibility. instead of "ï am 18 now, i need to be more responsible" we might think " i m still a teenager, why sould i worry". so the reprecussions are quite profound.

it would be actually great for not being able to know ur age...
y?..coz i had a tough time when i turned 20...i realized it only b4 my bday that im not gonna be a teenager anymore!...it was scary
i dont know where this thought cropped up from...age never bothered me...maybe for all the hype that is created when u grow old every year..ie. u need to take responsibility n act matured, n blah blah...my mom always keeps telling me that though u've grown physically...ur mind is no less than a kid...lol...i take that as a complement, im glad i didn't lose the kiddish side of me
