I watched an Arena Program on the BBC years ago about a guy named Slim Gaillard ,3 programs in a row in fact.
He was then 93,what a life! and what a storyteller!.Strangest Song?,perhaps ........but strangest repertoire certainly.
Although an accomplished Jazz musician, who regularly
played with a.o.Dizzy Gillespy and Tito Puente and immortalized in Jack Kerouack's -on the road as the man giving an energetic soundless Bongo solo for minutes by almost but not quite touching the actual instrument, bathing in sweat from the exhaustion, Slim in his solo efforts came up with songs one cannot imagine, some in his own made up language " O Vauti O Roony ".
Here are some Gems!.
- Serenade To A Poodle
- When Banana Skins Are Falling
( I'll come sliding back to you )
- Flat Foot Floozy (with a Floy Floy )
- Vo Bist Du.,Gaily Star
- Yabrak Harisi ( from Albanian restaurant menu)
- The Dirty Rooster ( F*** Off )
- Laughin in' a rhythym
- Matzoh Balls
- Cement Mixer (Putty Putty)
- Groove Juice Special
- Crapshooter's Jive (Well-a-take-'m-a-Joe)
- Drei Six Cents
- Tee See Malee
- Sabroso ( Flap Flap )
And the best bit with Tiny ' Bam' Brown -
Jazz at the Phiharmonic (Live for the Troops - Radio)

Opera in Vout

In good second place there's The Bonzo Dogs with :

- Hunting Tigers out in Indiah
- Mr. Apollo
- The Canyons of your mind
- Jollity Farm
- Jazz- Deliciously Hot , Disgustingly Cold
- Dead Cab for Cutie
- Look out there's a monster coming

And in shared third place :
From the Album - An Evening wasted with Tom Lehrer
- Poisoning Pigeons in the Park
- A New Christmas Carol

Some of the Syd Barrett Pink Floyd was pretty strange, especially the Gnome...
But Arnold Layne, Bike and Vegetable man are pretty strange too. But they're still good songs
And Arnold Layne was a transvestite that stole women's underwear to wear.

threebrains.com has the strangest songs from some snail that flys jet propelled while leaking blood out of its behind to the Weeee song which is just beyond silly (and if you aren't laughing when you hear the song, there is something wrong with you).

"Some Velvet Morning" the duet between Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra is a very odd song -

It's almost like they're taking turns singing different songs - it feels quite menacing, surreal, and deeply eccentric - but it works. It's a great song.
