if the Brits made one of the Iran women take off her headscarf for a tv programme, it would be classed as racism and all hell let loose - helped along with the media. But because its them not a thing gets said - this is why people turn against others - double standards.

The easy answer is, they made that video to show on Iranian TV, and community standards would not allow a bare-headed woman to be shown on TV.
The more subtle answer is, the tunic and head scarf are a signal that she was not acting freely, but under duress. Just as she was not permitted to wear her own uniform, she was not permitted to speak her own mind.

Well the Americans made the detainees wear orange jump suits so...but I know what you are getting at.
However, we all know that the taking of the British Marines and sailors is nothing to do with territorial waters, but to show the West that Iran will not be dictated to over their Nuclear deterrents.

If that is all, then it does not bother me all that much. Unless the headscarf has the Spurs logo, in which case I think we should seriously consider the nuclear option.

My opinion is: She was inside a country who's religion and law demand women cover their hair - she was provided the scarf to do so.
How about a man who only ever wears a loin cloth in his country coming to England dressed the same? Would you demand he wear trousers? Of course you would.

seems like they don't treat their enemies better than anyone else treats theirs. It's just as wrong for them to that, as it is for the U.S. to do what it did in Guantanamo, or what the Palestinians do to the Jews, etc. Where there is war, there is little respect for humanity. The humiliation and degredation people feel know no ethnic boundaries.
