because society does not punish these types of behavior, instead we celebrate and reward it.

What you see as hollow they may see as fulfilling. People who are in a miserable marriage may feel like staying in the relationship will lead to a hollow and miserable life, so they prefer getting a divorce and trying to find happiness elsewhere. If a person isn't happy being the sex they were born they may feel it would be a hollow life for them to stay that way, so they have a sex change.
You may think it's sad and hollow, but they may feel different about it.
As for drug abuse, some people just have problems they are having a hard time dealing with or they chose the wrong path at a time they were confused and can't get out of it that easily.

apart from divorce and sex change, the rest is search of a buzz because we are still animals.
Divorce is the nature of society and it is deemed bad because men will tend to lose out more however people don't tend to look at how the woman was treated within the relationship.
Sex change though it may seem disgustng to you is actually quite a sad state of affairs where an individual was did not recieve enough of the required hormones, for their sex, whilst in the womb. It is not something people do on whim but it is long drawn out process where he or she will recieve many years to pyschological and hormonal therapy before making the transistion. And to be honest sex change is an important choice and should not be considered as hollow.

People get involved in these things for many different reasons. I think so many people today are suffering inside with feelings they don't know how to deal with. There is more depression and anxiety in this country than ever before. People are looking for their purpose in life and others feel like they don't have a purpose so they just give up and go down the wrong path.Drug abuse is a form of escape from reality and a way to numb their minds, criminal activity is a way for them to get what they want without working for it. As for divorce, sometimes it can't be helped in the case of abuse or adultery and people who are sexually confused, well, I think many of them are born that way. It is a confused world and people are looking for answers and something to hold onto.

I think you have some strange ideas of what represents a hollow life. And how and why they live in certain circumstances.
What is crazy to you may not crazy to others. I feel that you have very limited life experience. Live a while longer and in a few years think of this question again. You will probably see these things differently.

hollow means empty and divorce means a new start in a better direction and doesn't belong in the group of items yo listed. (in my opinion).
People in general don't want to live the lives you suggested, most times they just fall into it unexpectedly and can't get out without help, and most times if family is not there to help then they don't get any help, so they stay as you call it "hollow".

Divorce is not something you can predict. I was married twice. I took my vows seriously both times. The first one lasted 11 years. He's the father of my only child. He became addicted to crack. The second one lasted 9 years & he became violent. Naturally I couldn't stay in either one, but I tried both times as you can see by the length of time for each.

Divorce is necessary when you marry an idiot. So I'm not sure why you added that with the rest. I think people do these other things for many reasons. Bad influence, no upbringing, mental illness, etc. etc.

I suppose the answer to that would depend on what behaviors each person feels are "hollow", wouldn't it?
