I want a Mercedes and I want it for free, what will I do??

Asking for powerpoint free makes about as much sense. The only way I am going to get a free Mercedes is if someone gives me one (not likely) or if I STEAL one (and I won't).

This is what you are asking, how to STEAL something that is of value and honest people purchase. If they don't have enough money to purchase it, then they try a free alternative, like Openoffice.

Heck, if you have dialup or otherwise can't download it, I will download it for you, put it on a CD and mail it to you, you could use a fake name at general delivery of most towns, so as not to give out your real identity.

PowerPoint isn't free. Microsoft sells it both as part of Office (check the fine print to make sure it's inlcuded in that particular version) and as a stand-alone application. But there are two alternatives:

1) Get on Microsoft's website and download PowerPoint viewer, which is free. The downside is that it only lets you view PowerPoint presentations, not create them.

2) Download OpenOffice like the other two answerers suggested. OO's Impress application will allow you to view PowerPoint presentations AND create them. This is by far my preferred choice.

The only thing to be aware of with OpenOffice is that it's a 90-plus meg download. However, you can get a CD with OO for a nominal fee if you have a slow connection, or if you'd just prefer a CD to a download. There are links on OO's website to help you with this, so they've got you covered. Good luck!
