......we openly insult our Leaders? We allow people to destory or foundational traditions? We have people that burn our flag? We have many citizens that ABUSE their Rights instead of exercise them? We have a Capitalistic System that is truly a Dictatorship of Demographics and Class?

What country could look up to us with what we display? What country would want to have a Democratic Government when ours is a poor example. I mean no leader wants his people calling him "Liar",..."Warmonger".......or, "Killing for Oil"!

I think we should be like China and be quiet and look out for ourself first. What ever happened to "Walk softly and carry a Big Stick"?

Yeah, we are in everyuone's business. If we were more a Isolationist country and took care of our own, we wouldn't have half the Domestic problems we have and have lost many of our Domestic Business to other countries.

What say you?

Gabriel,.....our own Arrogance is going to lead to our own ruin. And yes,....this country is ripe for Destruction if and when a few Countries decide to make their move.

How can this country survive it's wreckless rhetoric and boasting when it only has 1/10th of 1% trained to defend it, and no one else has a clue what to do if we are musceled?

Our biggest enemy is ourselves and those of us that buy into the ruse that we are immune to overthrow. The Left hand doesn't only NOT know what the Right hand is doing, but, doesn't even know it exists!

Apparently what we went throuh on 9/11 wasn't enough to Humble us. This country has become a joke. IMHO!

***OHBROTHER*** That's the problem,.......you and many can't think of any better. That's my point, this country could be better and should be better, and too many have settled for an America that has regressed instead of progressed. Maybe you might get a clue that maybe some of what I said was Semantics not to be taken literally but, to ponder?

I'm a 100% Service Connected Disabled Veteran, and I am Proud to be an American and love my Country, but, the people that are leading it aren't leading, and the people running it, are running it into the ground.

Get my drift? Yeah! Exactly! Who's minding the store?

If you don't believe it then don't say it. However it would be wise to compare.

Firstly democracy is not an American phenomenon. And there are many varied types of democracy.

The USA's biggest problem with its system of government is a legacy of 200 years plus ago. A head of government also a head of military. Most heads of state are figure heads with no power. The cabinet or party elects a prime minister who if he sucks can be replaced. There is little the US can do about a poor leader once he is in place. Also the run up to presidential elections takes to long. This allows for negative ads to stick before they have even got in. All down hill from there.

History has made the US go out and get in the way. WW2 showed them that standing back brought war to home shores. It is a lot easier politically, economically and strategically to engage at arms length and keep all threats and change at bay.

The rhetoric of biggest and beat is then used to justify action or inaction on many fronts. Don't get me wrong the USA is the best and biggest in many fields and endeavours when she wants to be. But she can also be such a ..... to her friends, allies and others.

PS - Visit China and you will see what happens to voices that sing out without permission. Besides look at Tibet and Mongolia. Also some say Nepal.

The real question is, if you don't think America is the greatest country in the world, why do you still live here? Or how about, why have more people immigrated to America than any other nation in history? So you think we should be more like China huh? Oh yea, it would be just great to have over half our citizens living below the poverty line. You wouldn't last a week in China before begging to come back to the U.S. Next time you bring up a ridiculous argument why don't you try to throw a few facts in with it.

*Thanks for the compliments, but you still didn't answer my questions.

**Now you're just softening up on your original question. If you're going to take a bold and strong stance, you need to stick by it.

You're right, no leader wants to be called a liar, warmonger, baby killer, or oil glutton. But, what happens when your leader is the embodiment of these things?

Should we just sit back, and blindly accept his policies as unadulterated truth? Freedom of speech and assembly are traits that make us who we are, as Americans. Are we supposed to give this up, and conform to the ideal notion of patriotism, just to give the world a false sense of unification on the part of Americans?

No country is perfect, and most Americans are aware of this. America, along with their system of checks and balances, will continue to be construed as the greatest nation on the planet by a high number of free-thinking individuals...and for a good reason. We ARE the greatest nation on the face of the planet, we just happen to have lousy representation at the moment.

Nice thoughts there.. , now on the part about being like China im assuming you mean isolationists. Well China is on its way to busting out of that practice. But I understand what you mean.

The worst thing about the USA is the behaviour of the people in it. It has often been the best thing as well. Currently its just hard to see the best of it.

Yeah, you're right. But it wasn't Bush that got us here. It started further back, along about the time Kennedy was elected. The question now is, how do we fix it? In my opinion, theres nobody running for office now on either side that would know where to start. And some of them would just make it worst.

Your right. That's why so many people are fighting to leave here and go to Mexico or other countries that don't have the freedoms we do. Many people that come here legally work hard and become successful under our system of Government. I think I'll stay. I can't think of any better. We are not a democracy, we are a Democratic Republic

We sure as heck have no business calling ourselves a "democracy" with the way that the U.S. Supreme Court has been behaving (Roe v. Wade and Bush v. Gore, to name two of the ugliest examples).

"I told you so" comes to mind.

Until our leaders and our government TRULY represent We the People, we will be forcibly controlled by this greedy, rapacious, hijacked government.

Tar and feathers, anyone?
