I recently recieved a ring from my mother, that belonged to my great grandfather. The ring is just an 18karat gold ring with two diamonds. I dont believe it was a wedding ring. But what do you people think about me wearing the ring? I know that maybe I should just put it up, but if I chose to wear it, would it be tasteful for a 19 year old male such as myself? By the way, the ring is at least 50 years old.

So what would you guys(and girls) think of a guy wearing something like that?

Well I think the answer is, do you want to wear it? If you do, then I don't see any problem with wearing it. If you are worried about people thinking you are gay or something for wearing a ring I really wouldn't even be concerned: I am in your age range and just about every girl I know would pretty much melt if they asked you where your ring came from and you said it was from your great-grandmother. Plus, in this day and age, it is commonplace for guys to wear jewelery, so I'm pretty sure that you wouldn't stand out in a crowd if you decided to wear it. However, I probably wouldn't wear it on my left ring finger if I were you (you don't want to look like you are married) but your right hand is certainly suitable.

I wear my grandmother origianl wedding ring, although she gave this to me on my wedding day. However, my husband has his deceased grandfather wedding ring, and has had it since about your age and does not wear it. Mainly because he doesn't want anything to happen to it.
I say, do what you feel is right in any case. It would not be tasteless, and I'm sure your mother felt you deserving to wear the ring.

I personally don't wear any ring other than a wedding band, but rings are okay for men for decorative purposes. I would not wear the ring you describe as an everyday ring, but some people might.

I don't think most women would object.

If your grandfather's ring is special to you, and you want to wear it, don't worry about what anyone else thinks especially if you like the way it looks.

Put it away for a while. Later on you will appreciate it and want to wear it. Besides teenagers have a bad habit of losing things.

If your not sure, put it on a chain and wear it around your neck. Then you won't offend your mum.

Also ask her if she wants you to wear it. It sounds expensive and if you lost it............

Men wearing rings is ok to me.
