I would like to think that my experience was the exception, rather than the rule. But several friends have also related unpleasent dealing with the homeless. Here is my story:

I was leaving the grocery store when a disheveled homeless person approached me. Sensing an impending appeal for alms, I swiftly moved towards my vehicle...but as fate would have it the hobo was an agile, sprightly fellow. Fumbling with several grocery bags, I was unable to retrive my keys and enter the car quickly. The vagabond made eye-contact and inquired as to whether I was in possession of any "spare change". My reply: "No sir, my purchase was upon credit, I'm very sorry!"

At this point the vagrant became very agitated and proceded to curse me. Fearing for my safety, I pulled out my trusty .357 handgun and ordered the bum away from the area. He left the vicinity, but not before imparting one last threat: "Y'all be some racist motherf*ckers".

No, I just think they are very desperate, that has to be a very hopeless feeling. We have the security of our homes and families, I can not imagine having none of that.

Almost all homeless people are scum. There are a few who hit upon hard times and want to better themselves. Most are scum. If a guy is aggressively panhandling he is a hard core case and beyond anyone's help. I don't get why the people who always give them money and food don't get that they are enabling them and not helping them. Getting off the streets is easy as pie. They won't so the hell with 'em. And anyone who thinks you're a racist for defending yourself from a potentially dangerous person is an ignoramous. I once pulled my .357 on a homeless guy and he was whiter than I am. Is yours a Smith or a Ruger?

I do not believe that all homeless people lack manners, class and sophistication. I do think there are a few that are criminals and will mug any one.
A few years ago, my grandmother stopped to pick up a pizza after work. When she returned to her vehicle with her purse and pizza , her keys in hand, ready to open the vehicle door. As she placed the pizza on the hood of the car, to open the door, a Mexican illegal came up behind her, hit her on the shoulder and ordered her to give him her purse. She reacted instantly, hitting the mugger across the face with the keys and knocking him down at the same time. Once he hit the ground, she keep putting her size 5 shoe , with much power into his face, stomach, sides and between his legs. Police arrived, grabbed her arm as she was about to put his lights out for the evening. As it turned out, Police had been looking for the screwball for hours, he had mugged three other older ladies a few miles down the road. Police put him in their vehicle for transport to Police station. Police took my Grandmothers statement there, My grandmother was 62 yrs old when that happened and she never missed a day of work after that and still goes to work everyday teaching her Martial Arts classes at her own school. In your case and this one, proves people need to fight back when attacked.

Yes. He asked for change, you said no, and he got upset and frustrated at his socio-economic plight as compared to your own. To vent his agony, he began to curse.

Then you pulled a gun on him.

Very sophisticated. Very classy.

A monumental display of manners.

And I don't think you've ever been properly threatened. That last bit was more of an observation at your willingness to pull a firearm on a "disheveled homeless person" than a threat.

Furthermore, I agree that the majority of homeless people who beg for money are on the wrong track. I just don't pull guns on them.

Oh my gosh, what has this world got to. I cant believe what most people are saying, and what most of you are doing. You guy's got to understand there are good homeless people and there are bad one's.

I usually give change to the homeless at the intersection or gas station. It's usually just a couple of quarter's and dime's. Yes id agree that more than half of those times they probably buy cigarret's or alcohol. But hey, its not up to me to judge them....I let God judge them... I would have to admit that at one point in my life, i to believed that all homeless were bad people, and lazy and all above, but my thought soon changed as i met this one homeless man. It was a rainy cold night here in sacramento, CA, usually its hot here but it was winter and almost freezing. I was driving in the drive thru at taco bell, and as soon as i was about to leave this homeless man approchoas me and asks for some spare change in exchange for my windshield to get clean. I sit him in my car, and share my food and we talk for a while. As it turn's out, he's a recovering alcoholic, and that he believes he needs to work for his money instead of beg for it. (thats why he washes windshield's). I was quite asstonished, and asked him where he can stay, he responded, i usually sleep in this abondanded car a few miles away, but he stated "last night was so cold, it really must of been one of the coldest night's i ever experienced" so i asked him if i can take him somewhere warmer. He said his sister's house, but she usually wont let me stay there, because she thinks im going to go back to my old habits. I drove him there, and before he left, he said will you pray with me so we did. After we prayed i offered him $20 to last him 2 weeks or so and i was shocked what happened next. The man insisted he wouldnt take it, i literally had to force it in his pocket, and it turned out his sister let him stay there, and im pretty sure he's doing much better now. Well i hope this story helps you people, so next time when you see a homeless you dont have to give them money, but if you do, let God judge them on what there going to do with it. Thanks and Goodnight

If you were really concerned about your pride in your right to pull your gun you either should have called a cop or LOANED the guy a twenty dollar bill and he would never have bothered you again because he could never have paid you back.

in my previous job i traveled and it seemed like every single time i stopped for gas, to get something to eat, or when i went into a store; someone would come up to me and ask for money.. when i told them no, they would become very mad at me and start yelling at me. Every so often someone would be nice by saying sorry and walking away.. but it just bugs the heck out of me when people get mad at me because i won't give them some change. I am the one working, i am the one trying to live a good life for myself and my family. But to get yelled at because i won't give someone some money!! They can keep yelling as far as im concerned. I have no sympathy for someone who doesn't want to better themselves. They typically use the money to buy cigarettes or alcohol.. and only beg for money because people give it to them. If nobody gave any money, they would be forced to go out and do something like work for a living...

I too had a run in with a hobo, he followed my cousin and I for a few blocks laying out this lame sob story. He was begging for anything even a couple cents. All the while we kept telling him to go away, he wouldn't have that though. He finally saw someone else and pursued them, but before he left he said "Greedy b*tches!"

They act like we are responsible for taking care of them, and thats the mind set liberals instill in people. My feeling towards them is, like most people. Get a job! With motivation and a determined mind set, you can achieve almost anything!

Hopefully you are joking. While I find it annoying at times when panhandlers ask me for money, I wouldn't consider pulling a firearm on them. Mainly, because I could go to jail for it. While it is usually illegal to aggressively peddle, it does not justify your actions. I'm not sure of your state law, but you can possibly be arrested for aggravated assault. Simply brandishing your .357 is illegal.

Ahhh, Clue to the Fool! Most all Homeless people suffer mental illness, drug abuse, or, alcoholism. Do you think any of them want to live that way?

There are also many Homeless Veterans. And, not all Homeless are Black,.......but, if I saw you mistreat a Homeless Veteran,....I'd make you eat that .357!

Your scared,....and that's good. You should be. It's people like you that help keep people homeless anyway.
