what is up with the whole hairless or nearly hairless thing? Is this a reflection of the fact very young girls are seen as sex objects? It seems odd and degrading and i'm not sure of the motives.

I think the fact that men are hairless in magazines is also a sign of a youth obsession which is kinda creepy. The difference is that most me don't go out and shave their body hair because they see it in magazines yet women will shell out 60 bucks to look like porn stars or do it themselves and look like 10 year olds with herepes(from the razor burn and bumps.)
It is ridiculous that women are willing to do whatever they think men want from them. It doesn't seem that they have much self respect or self esteem. The hair is there for a reason. I'm not adverse to trimming if the length is a huge issue but I think this is just stupid. Women make their vaginas itchy and blotchy and childlike.... and i'm the nutcase for thinking it is strange.

I guess you don't shave your armpits or legs then either? The same logic would apply to those as well. Traditionally body hair has been considered a masculine feature because men naturally have more body hair than women. However, you will also notice that more men now shave or groom their body hair as well. Most men have hair on their chest, but when you look at male models in magazines, their chests are usually as smooth as a baby's bottom. This was not true in the 70's and 80's. Is this a conspiracy of the patriarchy against men? The simple answer is that body hair is not fashionable right now for both men and women. just one minute of critical thinking is all that is needed to debunk this idea of "juvenilization of the vagina". What will they think up next? *rolls eyes*

You think it's strange because you probably live in the West. You probably live in America, Europe, or Canada. Women in the East have been removing their pubic hair for centuries. Most of the women in the Middle East do it because they want to be clean. I suppose it could fall into the same category as lyposuctions and facelifts. People do want to look younger. But, most women aren't really shaving it all off because they want to look younger. If that were the case, then young women like Britney Spears would not be shaving it all off. Britney Spears is only 24 years old. Most women shave it all off because it feels better to them. They know guys like the shaved look too. I know this because I have been in Yahoo Answers long enough to understand why women shave it.

Women have been removing body hair for centuries. In my opinion pubic hair can get annoying if not controlled, and sometimes its better just to remove it. I doubt it has anything to do with what you said.

I personally think that too much hair down there is messy and unatractive...

Also sexually fully shaven allows to more sensitivity down there... which i like.

I think for men its more a voyeuristic thing - they can see more
