Some birth controls pills can affect your personality, usually not for the better. This has happened to my daughter and to my best friend's daughter. If you start taking them, ask someone you trust to watch you and tell you if you seem to be having crankiness, mood swings, tendency to cry etc. A change in the type of pill is usually all that's needed.

I found I was very emotional when I first started the pill. I would cry at the drop of a hat and was a little depressed, but that soon resloved and Im back to my happy, positive self. It's important to remember that going on the pill does effect your hormones, which in turn can effect your mood. However, everybody is different and cliam different experiences. The best thing to do is have a chat with a Dr you trust and start a pill you are comfortable with. Try it and see how you go/feel, if you don't like it you always have the option to change pills or go off them all together!

Given that you are adding hormones to your body sometimes they can upset the balance and cause changes in your personality...my friend was a raving lunatic on a certain type of the pill...once she swapped to a different type (hence a different type of hormone) she was fine. The first type of pill i started on made my skin yucky...when i swapped to a different type i was fine. My advice is start on one type of pill...give it a few weeks if you find it makes you sick, or changes your personality then go back to the doctor and ask to try a different one...it may take some time but you and your doctor need to work together to find the right type of pill for you....once you do it will make the world of difference!!! Just keep talking to your doctor and letting them know if you are having unwanted side effects.

Read studies on birth control and cancer. Not the best idea to use that stuff. It messes with your hormones and you stop ovulating. It makes it harder to have kids later too. Ask you doctor for other alternatives.

everyone responds differently to the pill. it shouldn't though and if you do then stop immediately and contact your doctor to see alternatives, mostly you should only notice positive effects less acne clearer skin, smaller or fewer to no periods with less PMS, but the sucky thing is possible weight gain but it is pretty small approx 5 lbs
