This depends on your skin type and concerns, and also on your budget. As a teen, I used Neutrogena Moisture SPF 15 for daytime and the non-SPF for night. Now that I've discovered my skin's pretty dry and susceptible to seasonal changes, I use Juice Beauty's heavy moisturizer at night, and a touch of it during the day beneath Murad's Oil-Free SPF 15 Pomegranate Moisturizer. I also like Ole Henriksen's day and nighttime moisturizers, but the investment is nearly $100 for either scenario. The one thing you ABSOLUTELY need is SPF during the day, no matter how much sun you don't get. So, a separate nighttime moisturizer is important, since you don't want to sleep with sunscreen.

My mom and a lot of other women I know swear by Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion (or gel). It's about $25 for a moderately sized bottle, but it's supposed to be very good.
I actually use olive oil on my own face (I'm 19), just at night. After cleansing (Dove gentle exfoliating wash) and drying I apply a thin layer all over. It seems counterintuitive to use oil on a face that's prone to breakouts, but...I haven't had a breakout all week (I just started Monday), and I usually have a least a couple each week! That's my cheaper alternative.

TimeWise Anti-Aging Moisturizer from Mary Kay. It comes in two formulas based on skin type. One for normal/dry skin and one for combination/oily skin. Works great with the TimeWise 3 in 1 Cleanser (also comes in two formulas based on skin type).

here's a big tip.
Vaseline pertroleum jelly, no joke, is the best actual mosturizer. put it on your face on any dry spots and you skin absorbs it. its not like gross or anything it cleans up fine. and it gets rid of dry spots and evens out your skin fine. and it also doesn't clog your pores or anything. i have oily and dry skin so i get break outs at times and the vaseline works great!!

I use Oil of Olay Complete for sensitive skin. It has sunblock in it too! I get a lot of complements on my skin. Its not too oily, either.
