I am a college professor who will be attending the BEA/NAB conference in a couple weeks (April 17-22). I will be attending the conference with four students who are either graduating in May or will be graduating shortly. There are many thing occurring during the convention to keep them occupied but I was wondering if there are any events or attractions that would be of interest to college students in general as well as to students interested in these fields? What are some things for them to do while we are there? What would you guys recommend? Thanks in advance for any help that you can give me.

If you call around to the various hotels, you should be able to get a back stage tour of some of the shows. Most of the hotels are usually pretty cool about this. Also many of the TV/Radio stations in town are usually pretty cool about tours.

As for night life, everything that was mentioned was fine.

The Top of the Stratosphere tower has a quite a view, especially at sunset. Same for the Eiffel Tower.

they might like
Star Trek - LV Hilton > Motion Simulator

I would think that any of the Cirque du Soleil production shows would be of interest. Even though Mystere is my favorite, Ka would probably be the best for your group.

If you go downtown, Main Street Station has so many antiques & artifacts from all over the world that it could qualify as a museum. Including a section of the Berlin Wall - The Bronze Doors & Facade from the Royal Bank of Kuwait - several restored rail cars - fireplace from Preswick Castle -Etc >besides MSS has the best lunch & dinner buffets in LV for the $$<

Side trips to Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam & the Grand Canyon are well worth the time.

At the MGM Grand they have some kind of free screening of television shows. Ive never been to one, but they are always passing out free passes for the screenings. They are on the Studio Walk on the way to the pool.

There are the free shows at the Bellagio and the Mirage and the production at TI (Treasure Island). They are sequenced so as one ends the next one down the street is just getting ready to start.
