I'm a teenaged iranian living in Vancouver B.C.

I am not a crazed muslim radical, ridiculously hairy, owner of a camel, or a woman beater. I come from a relatively well-off family of doctors, engineers, and lawyers, not barbaric dairy farmers. Dont turn this into another political debate.

Vancouver is a city with a near 40% chinese population. I see a lot of cute chinese girls around here, i speak cantonese pretty well too. While I suppose the girls themselves seem fine with dating a non-chinese, I kind of dont want to be run out of town by an angry mob of hongers if they see me holding hands with one of their women.

So question is, in general, are chinese people (specifically the community in Vancouver B.C.) okay with dating outside their race?

this has been the wittiest question i've seen in a while, amongst all the crazed, fanatical, grammatically challenged and just overall stupid entries. i guess the chinese people are slowly letting go of their xenophobic traditions. i just told my father i've been seeing a middle aged white australian man for the past year and a half and he reacted quite well. in fact, he didn't quite keel over and die of a heart attack. i'm malaysian chinese and i know for a fact that my family would have more of an issue with me seeing someone muslim than anything else. in my country, marriage would force one to convert to islam and one would be bound by all the syariah laws. i don't know how this goes in canada. but in a nutshell i would say dating = yes, marriage = depends.

I suppose Chinese-Canadians should be open-minded enough to allow their daughters to marry a non-Chinese. I am Chinese-Australian and my parents never had any qualms with me marrying someone outside from my race.
