I agree with the previous 3 answers....its a different league...different rules...back when the Rocket played men were men and they played hard and a hangnail didnt take them out of a game....refs called the games the way they were supposed to ...im a firm believer that the league saw the potential of gretzky and instructed the refs to call the games differently...they wanted to enlarge their audience and the way to do it was allow the star to control the game....put gretzky back in the Rockets games and watch him get beat up bad...he didnt take many body checks when he played...but in the Rockets era if you were on the ice...you were gonna get hit...and hit hard....even through the seventies gretzky would have had it hard...boston, philadelphia, and a handfull of other teams would have beat mr gretzky into the ice......the Rocket was the greatest because he dished out the hits and even the fights as well as took them...

I doubt I would have put Koivu on his line. I like Higgins with him.
Rocket would still score 50 to 60 goals (if he wasn't dead that is).

Don't know. Its a different game now, its hard to make comparisons. While there have always been talented players, I think it might also depend on the overall caliber of the players in the league. My guess is he wouldn't have been as prolific a goal scorer, however, we'll never know the answer.

that's something that can never be answered. i love everything about the Rocket he would be clutch and would score allot of goals big goals. why don't you ask something like would Gretzky scored all those points in the Rocket Richard era, that's the question. if you can dominate in those days then you certainly can play in today's NHL.

Since Kovalev is such a puck hog, I'd say 40.
