I've been reading on the web that the chances of getting pregnant after a tubal ligation decreases as time goes by and if your tubes were burnt during the procedure. It's been a little over 6 years now and I can't remember what my doctor did. Is it possible to request my medical records for that procedure from my OB/GYN even though I'm no longer with him anymore so that I can be sure? I have no desire to have any more children because I'm very happy with my 3. However, since I'm still relatively young, I want to try to enjoy a healthy, active sex life.

Yep, your medical records belong to you. You may have to pay a fee for them to be copied for you, but you can get them. Contact the office, they may have a request form for you to fill out.

YES! You most certainly can request them. It is law that they have to maintain your records for a number of years and with an operation like that, it is a long time. So, even though you are not under his care, he still has your records and you CAN request them BY LAW! Good luck!

you will in all likelihood ought to bypass the medical institution and sign a consent permitting them to launch your scientific information on your new OB. they are in a position to the two pass the information to them (saving you cash) or make you copies so which you will grant the copies on your new OB. ?

it might be take a while for you to get you medical records but they should have them. offices usually send them to storage after a few year that you stop being a patient with them. also it might cost you to get copies.

you need to request your records in writing. they will probably be in storage, so it may take awhile to receive them and there may be a cost associated. if your new OB requests them, there is usually no cost.

absolutely. any doctor would be stupid NOT to keep those records around (in case of malpractice suits developing years down the road). they should still have those records, and you have the right to see them.

Good news is yes you can request them, bad news is that they may have purged their old files and might not have them. Good luck.
