I love the damn things! I don't know why but I always have since I was a kid. I'm almost 24 now and can't stop playing them. I walk by one and I just HAVE TO. I've always been really good at them. But in the last couple of years I've noticed more and more of them have weak claws that couldn't pick up a grocery bag full of feathers! You can't tell if the claw is crappy or not until you play; that's what sucks so bad. Is anyone besides me sick of being ripped off with these weak claws in crane machines!? It's not fair to the dedicated player...

More of them are being programmed to drop stuff too early most of the time. Here's a tip. Pick up something that if it falls, it will fall toward the prize pit. I've managed to knock prizes in without even picking them up if the machine is stocked right.

Also, if the prizes are sparse enough that you can see the bottom, don't bother. The claw is so weak, you'll never get anything out of there.

Many of those machines are rigged. The weak claws aren't accidental. It's the same principle as carnival games. If I were you, I'd stick with the machines that you know don't have crappy claws, it certainly sounds like you've shopped around enough of them!

Yes. I was never good at it, but I've seen others get lots of stuff from the same machine. I asked one of these guys what he does with all these stuffed animals & he gives them to the firemen at Christmas for the kids. I would just give them to my dogs, so it's better that he wins.

I am fascinated by this new category of addiction. I am curious if you ever lifted a prize in all those years? If you did even just once, that might explain the hook for you. Look up intermittent reinforcement. (well it would probably take more than one time)
