Cut out TV and find a book on a subject you enjoy. If you start getting bored, put the book down. Not everyone loves reading but it is enriching (most of the time), and you can learn to enjoy it. Find a comfortable environment to read in. Eventually, you will associate reading with that peaceful place and you may even look forward to it. Start with non-literary works (say you like a TV show and books are written on it, like Star Trek for example lol), start with those and work your way up to canonized works (your Shakespeares, Hemmingways, etc). I'm an English lit major and I can't say I always enjoy reading. I enjoy many books more than others, some I absolutely hate, and most of the time I'd rather read a magazine or surf the net, but honestly I do appreciate what I have gotten from books I've practically forced myself to read. I hated Gatsby when I was forced to read it, but now I reflect back on it as a really good novel.

Read something that you're interested in. Some books catch your attention from the beginning and some you may have to read a little further, it may be a little boring but try to read at least 1/3 of the book before you feel like putting it down. Talk to people who have read a lot, preferably people who like the same things you do and are interested in reading the same topics you may be interested in. That way they can recommend some good books to you. Go to a book store and walk around, browse different genres and read the short descriptions on the back of the books that catch your eye. If you like movies, find a book similar to some movies you like, that way it would be more entertaining. Good Luck and Reading can be very fun and educational too!

Depending on your age and sex, you need to find a book that catches your attention from the start. Reading is like taking a little mini vacation. Ask a question with more specifics and maybe someone can help you find a good book to start with.

as to my personal viewpoint, with the way you ask that question, you really do not enjoy doing that stuff. to enjoy something, you must first like it, otherwise it will be just a boring stuff. reading books, or mags that interests you will make reading enjoyable. reading good books will help you and widen your knowledge in any field. God bless!

Like everyone else here says, read what you find interesting and go from there. There are a world of books, magazines and periodicals. Also, keep reminding yourself that reading helps vocabulary skills immensely
