Alright, I'm doing my biology homework, procrastinating really and it asks to trace the blood through heart and body through 18 paths 1.vena cava (inferior vena cava?)2. right atrium 3. tricuspid valve 4. right ventricle 5.pulmonary semilunar valve (6? pulmonary trunk?)6 pulmonary arteries 7. capillaries in lung 8. pulmonary veins 9. left atrium 10. bicuspid valve 11. left ventricle 12(under septum)12. aortice smilunar valve 13. aorta
I can't get 18! Would it be correct to assume the (?) as numbers or is that stretching it? What am I missing?!?

Okay, found another question that relates saying that step 1 is from body so vena cava 2-4 is right side of heart (cambers, valve) 5-8 is Lungs (valve, vessels, organs) 9-11 are Left side of heart (chambers, valve) and 12-18 is To Body (Valve, major types of vessles). Hope that helps!

1. Blood enters heart from body through posterior vena cava veins.
2. Blood enters heart from head through anterior vena cava.
3. Blood enters right atrium of heart.
4. Blood passes through right atrioventricular valve.
5. Blood enters right ventricle.
6. Blood leaves heart, passing through semilunar valve.
7. Blood enters pulmonary artery.
8. Blood enters lungs.
9. Blood leaves lungs in pulmonary vein.
10. Blood enters left atrium of heart.
11. Blood passes through left atrioventricular valve.
12. Blood enters left ventricle.
13. Blood leaves heart, passing through another semilunar valve.
14. Blood enters aorta, largest blood vessel called "artery". Blood from the aorta enters smaller arteries.
15. Arteries become smaller vessels called "arterioles".
16. Arterioles become tiny blood vessels called "capillaries".
17. Blood enters tiny vessels called "venules" and begins its journey back to the heart.
18. Blood enters larger blood vessels called "veins" that return to the heart through the larger vena cava veins.

I thought I would add this to the question. I always understand stuff better if I watch someone explain it. This nurse does a good job explaining how the blood flows through the heart and she has a great picture to go along with it.

(coronary artary off of aorta?) ascending aorta > systemic arteries > arterioles > capillary beds> veinuels > veins > inferior vena cava

There are two separate paths. One is to the lungs and the other is to the rest of the body. That may be where your confusion lies, but it is hard to tell.
