what can bring someone out of a coma

There are different types of comas and many different levels of consciousness.

The person may be totally out cold. The person may be in a partially dream like state, only vaguely aware of the outside world. The person may be partially aware of the outside world and able to interact somewhat with their surroundings. The person may be completely unresponsive yet fully aware.

More often than not, the person is not laying there with their eyes closed, but semi conscious with sleep and wake cycles. An example of this can be seen in the movie "Awakening"

Doctors aren't sure what brings people out of such states but it probably varies from person to person depending on their specific condition. Some people, who are in a semi-conscious state may start slowly coming out of it, or suddenly just start talking and become fully conscious. Often times, unfortunately, they slip back into their former state.

How can this happen? Well most people who are in some type of state of reduced consciousness have suffered some type of brain injury which could have decreased blood flow to certain areas of the brain or disrupted the transmission of signals between brain cells. Sometimes the brain gets a boost from unexpected reactions to certain medications, and the brain cells start talking to each other again, but this is almost always a temporary state as the brain usually becomes insensitive to this stimulation.

I don't think Dr's even know why some people can hear things around when they are in a coma and others cannot. It depends on the individual case. Sometimes only time can bring a person out of a coma. There are a lot of mysteries still about a comatose state and what goes on when a person is in one.

First part of your question, yes, they can. It's been proven, How? Not truly, definitively discovered yet, to my knowledge. Nor exactly what brings people "out" of comas. But this is a very interersting question, & much exploration needed to answer your question. It seems that the mind functions long after the body is immobilized, (before death). Now, you've motivated me to do some current research on this! Thank you!

People who have come out of comas have said that they know who visited them & what they said. I don't know how. I guess it depends on how deep/severe the coma is. If I knew how to bring people out of comas, I'd be rich & famous.

Yes they can. Their brain is still functioning and can hear you. I think it's encouraged that you do speak to them. I don't think they know what brings people out of comas. I have seen prayer work and I have seen continuing to visit and talk to them have some effect.

I don't think that they can hear exactly what you're saying, but it stimulates them which helps.
