That is what Bertrand Russell said about the advent of science on human kind. He said that science and technology will bring more leisure to man and he will more time to devote to art and literature. There will be less conflict and more peace. But, you can see for yourself what is happening. With science man has more weaponry lethal enough to annihilate him from the face of this earth.

Most inventions promote laziness. They also are created for the greed of the inventor. Yes we are definitely moving away from peace as we invent more ease. We are fast becoming slaves to that which we invent. It will catch up to us and we will all perish for the better of the planet and all non-human life. Have a nice day.

Nonsense.

Do you use a toilet ... in 1890 only the Queen of England had a flush-able toilet .

We move much closer to peace when we help all humans have the same advantage and ease in life as we do. Many around the world still starve in poverty ... and don't even have toilets.

Share our wealth ( not our military power ) ... it won't last if we don't ... it will be our real wealth if we do.

Give love and the world will find peace! Simple huh.

Totally wrong thinking pal !

Peace is a state of mind and a trait of personality. These external aids by way of inventions are material comforts and can pacify materially and physically. Perhaps, material contribution to the needy and hungry, destitute, sick and under-nourished help in bringing normalcy and give peace a place on this planet. Unless one is at peace with himself no true peace can descend on him, society and ultimately, the planet called the Earth.

U ve to pay something to get something.

Inventions are made to serve humanity; but the limitations should be followed.
for ex. A vehicle is invented for travelling quickly, but most of us nowadays just to have a vegetable from the next street, pull out the vehicles and the result is less movement to body, which causes many disorders.

PEACE IS A STATE OF MIND. INVENTIONS LEADING TO EASE OR OTHERWISE IS ALSO A PRODUCT OF MIND.USE OF THE POWER OF BRAIN BRING FORTH BOTH THE EASE AND PEACE.KEEPING THE MIND IDLE DOES NOT BRING PEACE OR THE EASE.AS SUCH ALL INVENTION IS TO BE USED FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE SOCIETY/WORLD .
ANY INVENTION MEANT TO BENEFIT THE WORLD CAUSING PAINS TO A SINGLE BEING IS THE RESULT OF THE DARKER SIDE OF THE MIND AND A PERSON HAS TO CONSTANTLY ENDEAVOUR TO OVER COME THIS DARK SIDE OF THE MIND.LOVE UNIVERSAL LOVE FOR ALL THE CREATURES OF THIS WORLD IS THE SOLUTION PREACHED BY ALL RELIGIOUS LEADERS. FOR THIS ONE HAS TO INVENT SELF THE REAL SELF, AN ATOM OR EVEN SMALLER PARTICLE OF THE "BRAHMA" THE ULTIMATE
IN THIS CONTEXT INVENTION AND THE EASE THAT COMES TO THE MIND GIVES ONE PEACE .LOOK AT CHRIST, LOOK AT GANDHI, LOOK AT BADSHAH KHAN (THE FRONTIER GANDHI) THY INVENTED THEIR REAL SELVES AND WERE ALWAYS AT PEACE EVEN AT DEATH.

Peace has a different meaning. It depends on your mind.Somebody feels good when they got money.Though they have problems, their aim is money which may give them some strong thoughts. Some body will be peaceful if they are alone and some body feels peaceful if they are always surrounded by some people.Ease will give you a carefulness in your acts.So it may not take you away from peace.Peace is always with you but to identify it is difficult.

There are many monkeys who learned the ART of using long sticks to "dig out" termites from deep beneath the mounts. A recent video footage by David Attenborough showed how creative crows dropped shells from high above on Concrete Roads, where the moving automobiles "crushed these ... later to be cunningly scavenged by these crows! There are many more of such "creativity" situations in the other animals.

What do we term these actions? Inventions? Survival? Evolution?

The late Dr. Radhakrishnan once said ..." MAN OBSERVES, EXPERIENCES, EXPERIMENTS AND EMERGES CIVILIZED..." Perhaps we could term all these within this "scheme" of things, as effectively imported in Dr. Radhakrishnan's ideas.

The inventive genius of human civilization is a continuing process and it carries on inductively through the different stages of the evolutionary process. And, it is in fact this inventive genius of the human race that keeps us going. And just because the various dominant groups "convert" these into gaining better foothold, resulting in conflicts, cannot be considered the cause for Conflicts. To understand this we need to recognize the basic "structure" of evolutionary growth.

Essentially, evolutionary growth ( starting from the ordinary cell to the homo-sapiens) is based on what is termed THE SECOND LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS, in conjunction with the basic observation that any GROWTH/ INCREASE IN GROWTH IS PROPORTIONAL TO THE GROWTH LEVEL ALREADY EXISTING. While the Second Law stipulates that MATTER AND ENERGY COULD NEITHER BE CREATED NOR DESTROYED, BUT COULD BE CONVERTED ONE INTO THE OTHER WITH RESULTANT INCREASE OF ENTROPY, the evolution/ Growth theory results in an EXPONENTIAL FUNCTION of time. And in the natural world of such "frenzy" to take maximum space and bargain, there is what is called COMPETITIVE CONFLICT between the members of the same specie and between the different species. And like time being positive and could never be "taken back" to original level (an old man could never dream of going back into his original mother's womb backward in time!), the INCREASE IN ENTROPY always takes us to a level having LOST some things in the bargain ... resulting in "THE HEAT DEATH OF THE UNIVERSE".

The subject is very absorbing and highly complex, and cannot be discussed in such forums, in entirety; but suffice it to state that COMPETITIVE CONFLICTS WOULD EXIST INASMUCH AS THE WORLD EXISTS. BUT THE CAUSE IS NOT INVENTIVE GENIUS OF SPECIES...SOMETHING ELSE, ABOUT WHICH OUR INVENTIVE GENIUS IS YET TO FIND APPROPRIATE ANSWERS.

Peace is something very very basic and fundamental to life, and not the highest aspect as 'presumed' by the vast majority !!
Even animals are quite peaceful when they are well fed !
Yes, with complexities of present day situation and the modern gadgets created to make life a bit easier, we have reduced ourselves to sub-animal-levels as far as being peaceful is considered.... and that is why we are not able to taste life, love, joy and such deep & positive emotions without which the experience of life is even below animal levels, barbaric, frustated, painful, sorrowful etc !!!
