Throwing a fight is cheating. I would think prosecution would be the least of your problems when you cost someone who bet on you to lose a month's pay!

Reason you can be prosecuted would be because this is the ONLY way to keep it an honest profession. In addition, boxing is a professional sport including the 0lympics. Rules are enforced to keep the sport clean & legit making it safe and free from attracting undesirable attention or status.

Ask yourself what kind of example you would make if you by taking a dive? How credible would you be then?

That depends on whether the state considers it fraud or conspiracy to fix a sporting event. The Feds will try to tack on RICO charges. It will definitely mean the loss of your boxing license (or whatever certification you have enabling you to fight professionally) if you are discovered.

Not only could you be prosecuted you could also be banned from boxing. you would lose the money you were supposed to get paid for the fight.

If gambling is legal and you made a large bet against yourself then you would be guilty of fraud.
