A temporary hold has been placed on my bank account and my customer wants to send me a Cashier's Check. Will I be able to cash it? If so, where? Thanks in advance!

Cashier checks are sopose to be as good as cash.

I have cashed checks at grocery stores and Walmart when I could not get to my bank.

My brother always cashes his at the liquor store the grocery store is free if you buy like 7% of the check in groceries, walmart is $3.00 and the liquor store is like a fee as well.

This is a question best answered by a teller or the manager at your bank. Different banks have different policies. This is especially true now that there are so many scams involving cashier's checks and postal money orders. Even when the bank releases the hold on the cashier's check, always ask them to verify that it is a legitimate check and not a forgery. If you sold something and the client sent you a check for way more than the price of the item, asking you to wire the extra to them, especially if it is to be wired out of the country, then be extra carefull. If it turns out to be a phoney check, you will have to repay the bank, and it can mess up your credit for a long time. Some people who have been taken in on this sort of scam have themselves been arrested for passing a fraudulent document. It is easier for the bank to put it off on you than to try prosecuting it overseas. Check out the website http://www.quatloos.com/ for more information on this and other common scams.

Well it all depends on why that hold was placed there. Is it a hold on the account or is a check you deposited on hold? Go to your bank and ask the manager about cashing it. A cashiers check is guaranteed money and can be cashed right away!

Ask your customer to send you a postal money order instead of a cashier's check. Then you can cash it at the post office and totally avoid the bank entirely.
(money orders can be bought at any grocery store or the post office)

If the check is drawn off another bank the answer is NO!! that is because it can take a few days to verify the check with the issuer. if it is drawn off the same bank then it will be up to the banks rules on this. If it is from another bank and you can get to one of those branches you can cash it there.

Have you heard of cash converters? or cash stop or whatever, its a place to cash cheques and they take 5 or 10 percent of the cheque but you can cash it. You may want to think about it, putting it in the bank will only hold things up and if you need the money it may be best, take care Heather

Yes. if the check is drawn on another bank then no, they have no obligation to provide that service.
Try another bank or any local check cashing service, but they might charge a fee.

Not at your bank. Perhaps at the bank the Cashier's check is drawn on.
