Someone has answered that all cars of maruti suzuki have front drive axle problems. Even when you write to the car companies that their axle problems persist & can be solved, their objectivity as well as optimism seem to have flown out the window. What can be the reason ?

You, or the other person who answered, are probably referring to a 'drive-shaft' problem, which results in a sound while turning. Maruti cars are known to have earlier drive shaft replacements than some ofthe other brands (typically about 35000km in the smaller cars, and about 60000km in the larger ones).

This is because of Suzuki not overdesigning the car for the Indian market in the early days. Most of the other manufacturers learnt from this experience. I do not recall hearing about this specific complaint from Maruti cars sold in the last 4 years.

They don't care and the problem is not severe enough or does not happen often enough for the Federal Government to get involved. (NHTSA) Most large companies are slow to react and do not change unless the problem gets alot of media attention ,costs them alot of $$ in car buy backs (lemon law) , or even more $$$ in lawsuits.

Money. Every decision they make is based on that alone. If you can convince them that the bad publicity for not fixing the problem will cost them more than the repairs, then they will fix it. Otherwise they won't spend a dime more than they have to.
