Does anyone know which episode of the Transformers has the FIRST occurance of Optimus Prime almost dying?

I'm trying to remember this for a friend. Optimus didn't die, but he was just hurt very badly. I know that shortly after the battle, Huffer offered to pull Optimus' trailer rig for him., and OPtimus called Huffer a "true friend".

It also seems to me that Optimus noted at some point in the battle that Megatron was somehow a lot stronger than normal. Perhaps he'd had an energeon cube cocktail?

Rusty, are you and KL5 talking about the same episode? KL5's description of Megatron absorbing the other's powers sounds right on the money. Is that the same one Rusty is talking about?

With your description of Megatron being stronger, it reminds of the Ep where the 2 fights and the loser would leave Earth. But Megatron cheated by absorbing the powers of his fellow Decepticons.

For the name, I forgot.

There is also this episode where some Autobots had to go to Cybertron to find some spareparts for Prime cos he was damaged after a battle.

This is in the original 3-part pilot episode, "More than Meets the Eye." I forget which part exactly (leaning toward part 3, but it could be part 2).
