If you mistook them for being clean, they couldn't have been that dirty. I wouldn't worry about it. Just try to be more careful next time. There are bigger issues in life to be concerned about - tell your wife to calm her nerves and move on. Being a nervous wreck doesn't help the situation......And believe me, this will NOT be the first time something dirty makes its way into your baby's mouth. It only gets worse from here when he/she starts grabbing things and trying to eat it.

How old is the baby? I have two girls. As they get older, the child can be , and should be exposed to more "unsterile" parts of his or her environment. It will promote the development of the immune system. Their is alot of truth to the phrase "What does not kill you makes you stronger". It really does --- to a point. If you are not exposed to dirt, and disease they your immune system never knows how to make the antibodies to handle the problem. As long as the problem is not too extreme, the immune system will make antibodies to handle the invader and will remember how to kill the invader the next time.

Its probally not great for your newborn but it could be worse. A long time ago things were not as sanitary as they are now and kids were fine. Keep an eye on your kid if he/she spikes a fever get her to the doctor other wise they'll be fine.

I've done that!
It all depends on how young she is, but just be alert for something different in your little for 12hrs or so.
If she doesn't start to curl up and cry persistently she is all clear!
Hope she's ok.

"Okay" hahahahahahahhah ,Awe com-on ,.Did the kids get sick ?Well next time keep a bottle brush handy, the worry-some thing is the nipples ,they wear out after a few months and if babie getting teeth they can choke to death, bottles
are fine ,its the nipples you have to replace, always pull on the nipple attached to bottle before you give it to babie,if it's
turn white ,sticky etc, dont use.and replace,There are nipple brushes too,Keep the nipples clean ,and they especially wear out faster if you boil them occasionally to sterile them.
So mine wore out faster..Well anyways boiling is a good
claening method too,...."hmm" Yes it is,Dont put baby bottle in the dishwasher ..";Give me a break"justbuy some bottle brushes, etc.Keep aware of the nipples on the baby bottle
"seriously.." And on pacifiers too..And I hope you know about enlarging th new nipple hole with a sterile hot pin to enlarge it slightly.
Because the nipple holes on nipplkes are usually too small.
But donytr make them too big... you know they are too big when bottle is "blink gone" and baby is ..."hmm"
not asleep ,happy or gassy..Nipple holes need to have suck,
milk ,formula should not pour out the hole ecetera, but not too much suck and not enough...(The imporatants of this ironically)Now you "have" to know this ,you can see ,
"If yoyur baby sucked down a bottle like a race car driver,
The holes too big! Now if baby sucks on bottle and starts fussing then sucks and starts fussing ."You Need to enlarge the nipple hole or best add another then enlarge the one there" You sterile a sewing needle on stove ,then put it through nipple top,
Factory nipples are too small .(the holes..or too large(Clean it before also)"THATS IT"!
and "Happy baby time" ...,Love ann

EWWW!! Couldn't you tell they were filmy at the least? Didn't they smell? The worst I think that could happen is that your baby will get a bad stomach ache and maybe diarrhea. If that happens, call the pediatrician and explain what you did.
