The sushi chef at my restaurant is giving me a really hard time. I noticed early on that the sushi chef was never really nice to me. There are always two waiters on any given shift. He always gave the other waiter sushi or sushi rolls or fresh fruit or other food, but never gave any to me. It was pointed and obvious, because he would give it to the other person right in front of me. And it always hurt me a little bit, but the other waiter was always kind enough typically to share it with me anyway. ): Plus, it started happening that whenever I asked the sushi chef questions, when customers asked me to get information from the chef, he would get angry with me and give me a hard time. But he didn't give the other waiters a similar hard time. Then the chef started ignoring me. ): I would say "good morning" to him when I arrived, and he would frown and ignore me. He has stopped ignoring me now. But he criticized me to the president of the company which owns the restaurant in

front of me. Then I said "I noticed you were discussing me, but if you have feedback to give me, I woud appreciate if you shared it with me" He replied: "What I say all the time. If you don't do your work well, people in the company are watching you. This is a strict company. It is only soft in this restaurant [the company has many restaurants]. If the manager were Japanese, he would already have gotten angry with you." His comments and attitude have made me lose my confidence self esteem is hurt and I no longer enjoy work. What should I do? Afterwards, when the customers were gone, I apologized to him and he ignored me. The other waiter nudged my foot while I was apologizing and afterwards told me that many waiters find it difficult to communicate with this chef.

He is gay. And the others gave in. Don't do that. What he is doing is exactly trying to make you quit. He is emotionally distroying you mind. Get a lawyers advice first then complain if nothing happens or they fire you sue them due to an uncomfortable situation.

I would call in and say you're unable to make it to work...and start looking for another job, get your resume out there, Hopefully you'll have an interview and can give this job it's one or two week notice and leave. When asked by the president why you want to leave..You can honestly tell him Why it is you no longer want to work there with a sushi chef like the one he has in his restaurant.
Best wishes*

You can find better. I know from experience what it feels like to work at a place where your not comfortable at . When you have a job like that you take it home with you, and thats never a good sign. Of course everyone gets tired of there job at one point or another and they just dont wanna go. But for this guy to put you down infront of the president of the company shows he has no respect for you, and you dont need that. Just ask yourself, is the money your making really worth it? It's all about the money, but if he makes you worrie about it when your home, when your suppose to be relaxing.... screw that.

Don't tell him that you're good at your job; SHOW him. Don't ever let someone get you down because of that; treat it as a learning experience, and go from there. It sounds like he's a perfectionist; I should know, I'm the same where I work, and people have to earn my respect before I approve of them. But to me, if you're there to do a job, you owe it not only to the customer but yourself to do the best job possible, and that means learning to do it better over time. So be patient, don't lose your cool, and do your best to show him that you deserve respect. Once that occurs, you'll both come out better for it.

There is never any ending on those inequalities at work and some times you can not do much about it. Why do not you just go and ask the owner to take his time andtalk to you about this problem?A lot of owners like when every one gets along with eveyr one. They like team work policy. Thre are also so many other questions you should ask your self, is the other waitress worked there longer then you. YOur cooworker, other waitress is faire to you. Do not worry even the CEOs hard time deaing with their own team.Good luck

First, ask him (politely) if there is anything you have done to upset him. If he has no answer, your next question should involve his behavior. Try this first...if it gets you nowhere...kill him with kindness everyday. Be careful about bringing it up to your boss or president...you don't know where he stands with them yet. However, if at any time you think your job will be compromised by his behavior, you do need to approach them. Also, if the quality of service or meal is affected, you have a strong case there.

You need to ask yourself if this job is worth all of this?! Try finding something else, and just stick with it for a while. Everything will work out! It's important to be happy in your work! Good luck! Take a day off if you need it! It's not worth the stress!

I can see why you feel like you don' want to go to work. It is important for you to get along with your fellow co-workers. I am that way my self. I would just try to ignore him and just do your Job. Other wise maybe you could try to find work else were where you can be more happier.
