I think if Myspace and Yahoo platform candidates, it'll help those potential voters who don't read the newspaper or news or have any interest in finding out what's really going on. They will spoon feed people carefully scripted pictures of the candidates. But I think intelligent informed voters will not rely on these web sites to proclaim the real truths and issues of the election. But, hey, it's a lot easier to make a bunch of airy-fairy promises on a web blog than to actually be seen in person talking about your political agenda, wouldn't you agree? AS though any of the candidates really give rat's rear what the American voters think or want. They will just play the electoral college game and push for those states' votes. the rest of us are invisible anyway.

I am not sure how big of an impact this will actually have. Politicians, parties, and special interest groups already work very hard to get out the vote. Being a graduate student, I have seen this hard work from the beginning of the school year to election day in 2002, 2004, and 2006. None of this hard work, directly targeted at young voters, has made much of a difference. I don't think MySpace will have a direct impact on youth voter turnout. It may give young men and women a new forum to discuss political issues, but I don't think it will encourage them to actaully go out and vote.

Lol no, myspace will not influence the non-voting youth. Youth turn outs are always awful, all myspace will do is encourage them to move their mouth as if they support a candidate, but they wont go out and vote. I WILL vote in 2008 ,and i am considered a young adult, however, I wish to be really active in politics.

The Internet is a powerful medium. There are websites and, of course email that can be useful in winning or losing the election.

More power to MySpace. Go for it, I say.
I also think if someone really wants to get elected, they should get their name and photo on votefortheworst.com! Seems to be working for American Idol singer (I use that term loosely) Sanjaya.

You never can tell. MTV and even Arsenio played a huge part in getting Bill elected in the 90s.

If by "an affect", you mean "an effect", and by "an effect" you mean the elections won't be rigged this time, then no.
