No, it would merely be categorized as a symbol of your beliefs. Many people just wear them for looks with no thought of the religious meaning that it represents. As long as you don't pray to it, or worship it, etc . . . it's not an idol.

Unless you worship the cross on your necklace, it is only a visual reminder of the Christ who died on a cross. He is who Christians worship but they respect the symbol of the cross.

There are arguement to sway to any side, but check this, due to this reason, the Messenger of God (p) forbade the represenation of any living being, to be worn upon or otherwise. As this act of "creation" or creating a represenation of the living is only attributed to God Almighty, and hence cannot be immitated nor even in a lesser sense by us created beings.

So we reserve our worship and total submissiveness to God Almighty.

No. An "idol" is something that you worship in place of Almighty God, or a representation of something of worship, that is contrary to God. The cross is a representation of the sacrifice of Christ to redeem the sins of mankind. It does not represent idolatry.

That depends on your attitude. If it is a symbol only--then no. If,on the other hand, you regard the cross--the material object itself-as being imbued with spiritual meaning, rather than simply a symbol of that meaning, then yes.

If you worship it, then it's an idol. Then again, worshipping some "guy in the sky" makes him an idol too but since he doesn't exist I guess that's okay too. :D
