1st check your VGA card whether it support multiple monitor e.g. 1 blue 15-pins D-sub connector + 1 white connector (DVI)... if you have this, just buy an extra monitor that support DVI (or buy a DVI - D-sub converter)

if not, just buy another VGA card and an extra monitor (for 2 monitors setup)
if you want 3 monitors setup, buy 2 VGA cards + 2 extra monitors...

its that easy if you use windows XP or better since multiple monitors support is built in...

hope that help...

buy a video card that supports output to multiple monitors..
buy two monitors
cable them together
turn monitors on
turn computer on
download/install drivers unique to the video card.

your mileage may vary as different vendors drivers handle dual monitors differently.
