This is going to be off the topic, but, what is this
executive privilege BS?
I thought these elected officials were working for us, the
people whose taxes pay for their salaries. Shouldn't we have
executive privilege?
I can't support anyone who puts his self above the average
American & thinks he has the right to secret goings on.
God only knows what this airhead is up behind our backs.
Obviously, his way of running a government isn't working,
since it looks like all these high paid politicians do, is
have a meeting in their fancy dress clothes & agree to
never agree with each other - even when the lives of
young Americans are at stake.
Sorry for the attitude - they're all starting to appear disgusting.
Bush needs his head examined & probably everyone else,
either for going along with him or letting him get away
with murder.
Bush is the least patriot person in this whole gallery & he
doesn't have a conscience or the brains to know better.

Simple. Because "government" doesn't work. The US Government has no history of being able to run anything profitable and efficiently. If a businessperson ran their business the way the government runs itself they'd be bankrupt in a year. Heck ... for that matter how about the fact that the government can't do what most of the 300 million citizens of this country do successfully every day ... bring in income, pay bills, save for the future and don't spend more than you make.
Need more proof? The huge budget deficit.
Still More? Walter Reed Medical Center.
Even More? The nearly bankrupt Social Security System.
The only "pseudo-government" entity that runs efficiently is the US Post Office ... and that only works because it isn't really run by the government. It is a privatized system that is run like a business and as a result can efficiently deliver a letter across the country in a matter of days for less than a cup of coffee.
The fact that Republicans (not to be confused with conservatives ... the vast majority of Republicans aren't really conservatives anymore) can't do any better than the democrats only proves that the they are as misinformed and illogical as the liberals. Neither one of the two big parties has a clue about how to make this country economically viable and successful. What we really need is the Democrat party of old ... the party of Zell Miller and Joe Liberman ... not the socialists that they Democrats have become .... and a true conservative party, not the tax and spend democrats that the Republicans have become.
Baring all that? How about the Libertarians .... I don't agree with everything the Libertarians say .... but their philosophy of being Socially Liberal and Financially Conservative shows the best potential for the future success of this country.

The government was never meant to be our nannys or caregivers. The U.S. Government only had a half dozen things to do. Regulate commerce to keep prices from gouging the People, mint money, Post Office, the Supreme Court, and make war if necessary against any aggresser. All that changed when lb Johnson created the "Great Society", aka the Welfare State, and the country went downhill from there. That allowed Big Brother to stick his nose into our private lives started him telling us what we could and couldn't do with our families, lives, blah blah ad neausium.
quote: "A Government big enough to give you everything you want is strong enough to take everything away."~~Thomas Jefferson
Less government= happier, freer, more productive people.
That's why.

Government doesn't work under Liberals. It becomes bloated, top heavy and full of PORK, just like it's doing right now under your heros Pelosi and Reid. That's no secret. When Conservatives get elected they prove it by showing liberals how it should be done.

Their paradigm is in direct conflict with compassion, so they use "govt. doesn't work" to rally the uninformed behind the slogan so they can attack any program that works towards the ideal that we are all in this together. What they want is to then get in power, plunder the Treasury and end up with socialism for the rich as we have under Bush/Cheney, no bid contracts indeed, and leave everyone else to fend for themselves. It always comes down to what do you want the govt. for. Democrats usually use govt. for the general welfare, and conservatives want the welfare generally for their friends.
