Words like crossed, hath, thall, thou, gallop, amain, welded, and many other old english words are not used today and have no meaning to people now of days. So if black stop using the n-word then everyone would stop using the n-word too.

Ooh touchy subject....
I don't have a problem with it at all, the "N word" is a part of my everyday vocabulary (outside of the workplace). In my opinion its one of those words where its meaning has evolved over time. For example, "gay" used to mean happy back in the day, now the word is most commonly used in reference to a homosexual person.

Even though I don't have a problem w/ using the word, I still have respect for those who are offended by it. I would NEVER use the "n word" in front of my grandmother because she grew up in a time where Blacks were called ******* to be disrespected and humiliated on a daily basis. I use the word endearingly..."What up my *****!"

I don't think that everyone would stop using that word just because Blacks stopped using it. Once a racial slur is created it never seems to "fade away". I really don't know what to think about Black people using it when they speak to each other, I think it made me uncomfortable in the past, but I'm used to it I guess. I suppose it could help if Black people didn't call each other that,.. its a nasty old word made by hateful people. Racial bigotry ending is what would stop other people from using slurs. How does that happen you ask? Well I think as time goes on people will slowly become less and less ignorant, like it has over the years, and centuries. Unfortunately many people don't want to try get along with other people, for whatever reason.. ignorant parents, friends, etc. So they just keep a terrible tradition going from generation to generation. Hopefully someday humans can just realize that your ethnic backround and heritage, and what your ancestors might of done is just that. What, and who you are as a person is what matters. Sorry for the rambing.. I just dont believe that people are STILL bigoted. Haven't we learned anything from the past?

(sry not black) it's the attitudes that society hold so important to perserve, that we all gotta protect our cultural background, especialy in a country that wants to assimilate you / your people into submission.

If all black ppl vowed not to use the n word (doubtful), then yes racists would probably think differently, but black people gotta respect themselves enough first for that to happen. It's just a bad way of thinking all around and it continues in a cycle until a few brave people stand up to the norm for what they believe.

Yeah, I for one hate that stupid word, and it upsets me that Black people use it, but expect others not too. It's no different from when I hear rude Black people call an Asian yellow or a White person a Cracker. It makes me sick! Anyone who says that word. It means nothing, so is that what you think of yourself when you say it? You're nothing? There are ways to joke or talk about things without saying words of hate.

The word itself is offensive. It brings back bad memories. And we did not start using it, it was given to us. We then claimed it and made it work for us. Not for anyone else just us. Now for me I say get rid of it. But for those who use it, I say claim it in it's entirety. It is not for every one to use.

even if you erase the word racist people will still pass the word down to their kids who they will be racist and continue to use it. You can erase the word out of the the dictionary but not out of society completely.
