They haven't been quiet for 30 years.

During the Reagan Administration, Iranian speedboats equipped with mounted machine guns constantly attacked US warships patrolling the international waters in the Persian Gulf.

About 4 years ago, Iranians captured British sailors just like they did this week.

How come no one remembers?

Iran has not been a quiet puppy. Before the Iraq war Iran was the most progressive and western leaning country in the middle east. The majority of the population is under 30 and has some university education. The current president...no matter how crazy he is...will be gone next year. He has fallen out of favor with the real power.

The religious right wing now has complete control in Iran because of the war in IRAQ.
There will be a new Pres. next year. HE WILL BE WORSE!

1979-Ayatollah Khomeni declares he is creating "God's goverment" and sanctions the siege of the U.S. embassy and ensuing hostage crisis. Political opponents face imprisonment and firing squads.

1980- In an effort to spread his fundamentalist influence around the Middle East, Khomeni begins an eight-year war to overthrow the secular government of Iraq. Up to 1 million Iranians are killed.

1989-Khomeni issues a fatwa ordering the death of author Salman Rushdie for committing blasphemy in his book "The Satanic Verses." Many people associated with the books publication are attacked worldwide...the translator of the edition in Japan is murdered.

1995-President Clinton suspends diplomatic talks and trade with Iran because of their continued support of known terrorists and their pursuit of nuclear weapons.

2000-2001 Progressive gains in Iran's elections are met by a shutdown of the independent press. The quest for nuclear arms, condemned earlier by President Clinton, are now attacked by his successor President Bush.

2002-Conservatives in Iran jump all over President Bush's "Axis of Evil" comment to incite anti-Western tensions.

2005-Tehran Mayor Mahmood Ahmadinejad rides a wave of populist anti-Israel, anti-West rhetoric to win Iran's presidency. Progressives are purged from government.

2006-In a report to the UN, the IAEA says Iran's nuclear enrichment program has continued despite sanctions and inspections. China, France, Germany, the UK, Russia and the U.S. issue a statement demanding an immediate halt to Iran's nuclear ambitions....Iran does not comply.

2007-Iraq security forces discover evidence indicating that Iran has supplied, trained and recruited insurgents for the purpose of destabilizing the secular government and increasing the influence of fundamentalist clerics.

If the last 30 years have been quiet, it's only because you haven't been listening.

You have phrased your question as a statement.

Your statement is completely wrong, and your premise has no basis in fact.

There are two US aircraft carrier battle groups conducting operations as we speak.

We will make a move in support of our British Allies.

Once again you have demonstrated that you are a disgrace to the chevrons that you have never earned.

Be a big boy and take them off. You can do it tough guy, just change your avatar.

That and the fact that they now have a president that appears to be an intelligent man and is not afraid to speak his mind. As with most of the nations in the Middle East, they don't like Israel and because the US supports Israel, they don't like us. I would not discount the Iranian president, he could become a very dangerous person.

They are just gearing up... When our troops finally get the heck out of Iraq, it will probably be Iran who goes in and takes over.

Iraq and Iran are traditional enemies. Thanks to George Bush, Iraq is in ruins and will be easy taking for Iran.

And, we can't go to war in Iran....we don't have enough battle ready troops left in the U.S. Our military is in Iraq and is totally unprepared for further conflict.

Listen to the Generals.....

You are right. also, Iran's greatest threat was Saddam Hussein. After the Iran/Iraq stalemate war, Iran did not want to go through that ordeal again. Bush took care of their problem for them?

Fact is, the moon bat Ahmadinejad is but a figure head - and most of the real policy is coming from the Shiite clergy and their supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
That should be explanation enough.
