You would first need to draw your ideas on paper and give it detail. If you have an idea that you feel can make you money in the future you will need to take this to a patent office. That way no one can steal the idea from you and use it to make money. To get a patent in the U.S. you will have to pay money to protect your idea. Then the patent office will often give you advice as to where to go in the area for help in making your sample product. Remember all of this costs money. I went for a U.S. patent a few years ago and I used a lawyer that specialized in this. I live in Minnesota and It cost me about ten thousand to start to get the patent through the process, get someone to produce the idea if necessary, and any costs that were accrued during the process you have to pay extra. I am sure that NY is more expensive than MN. Why don't you go on the Internet to get the information that you need to get started. I am sure that you will be able to find a US Patent office in the phone book, but if not check the Internet. Then start you research for a good lawyer if you plan on producing your idea. The Patent lawyers always have all the information on which companies to go to when you are creating a sample of your new product. There is a lot of money to be made for people with good ideas. Now you know how to start to product the product.

You could go to www.guru.com (I don't work for them, just use their services) and look for a contract electrical/electronic engineer. You would have to email him/her with what you are looking to do and that person would give you a quote. Developing ideas is not an inexpensive past-time, but if your idea is simple enough, it might not run you too much. If you need a plastic case for your project, you can get the files done by a mechanical engineer who uses CAD or Solidworks. Those files can then be emailed to a type of company called Rapid Prototyping (you can just google this phrase) and you just email them the file and they send you a part, usually for a couple of hundred bucks.
Good luck. As an inventor and product developer with over 15 patents and four more in process, I admire your desire to bring your dreams into the physical realm.
