i know some people's are caused from different things, but mine are caused by stress.. me and my hubby are going through some issues, and i dont see stress relief any time soon.. i get up to 6 or 7 big ones at a time and they last about 1 - 2 weeks.. they are very paiful and sometimes the pain is so bad i cant help but cry.. i have tried anbesol, and another thing, i dont know what its called, but you put it on the sore, and it dries like a crust, creating a sheild, but it comes off easily, removing the top layer of the kankersore.. very very very very painful!! will someone, please tell me a better way to deal with this pain, and maybe (hopefully) find a way to make them go away faster or (dare i say) stop coming altogether?? any suggestions are greatly appreciated..

a cold sore is from the herpes virus..

a kankersore is an ulcer, and is not contagious..

there is a difference, and that is it!

gargle with warm saltwater, add a good bit of salt into very warm water and gargle in your mouth for a minute, it gets rid of the pain and rid of the sores, i used to get them bad when i was little and it works i promise. let me know if it works for you, good luck!!!

my husband just underwent chemo. Mouth sores (canker sores) are a common problem with some chemo drugs. He rinsed with a product called Biotene. He also tried salt water and baking soda. But the Biotene was his favorite as it did not upset his stomach.
Biotene is found around the oral supplies at Target, Wamart or grocery store.

Try Kank-Aid (I may have spelled it wrong it may be Cank-Aid) but it helped me. I know how painful they are have you tried rinsing your mouth out with salt water it hurts like hell when you do it but I think it also helps it heal faster!! Good luck I know how you're feeling.

I'm going to guess that your body PH is acidic. Try maybe eliminating junk foods, sugar and greasy fried things. Do you eat when your stressed? Like I said, I'm just guessing.

canker sores are located inside your mouth. cold sores are on the outside. visit your doctor or urgent care. if you have cold sores, they are very contagious.
