I really liked that book. I really would like to read something similar: sci-fi, but funny... Any suggestions?

Have you read anything else by Douglas Adams? If you haven't read the whole Hitch Hiker's Guide series, definitely work on that. If you've read those, you might also want to check out his Dirk Gently books, they're pretty good:

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency
The Long, Dark Tea-Time of the Soul

Neil Gaiman sometimes has a similar style, especially with one of his more recent novels, Anansi Boys (sort of a follow-up to a more serious American Gods). This is more fantasy (not in an elves-prancing-around kind of way) than science fiction, though.

I believe Douglas Adams wrote three more in the series; Life, the Universe and Everything, Restaurant at the End of the Universe, and (Ford!) one other I cannot name but you can Google. If you want some more really interesting characters and concepts in print, try Larry Niven's "Known Space" series which includes Ringworld, Ringworld Engineers. Look for those at used bookstores and ask the employees for their recommendations as well.
