I remember when that song came out. It certainly was a song that fitted the times.
" 'Get Together,' also known as 'Let's Get Together,' is the name of a song written by Chet Powers in 1963. The song is a plea for peace, presenting the duality of love (compassion) versus fear (hatred), and the choice we have between them.

In 1964, The Kingston Trio released their version of 'Let's Get Together' on their album Back in Town. While it wasn't released as a single, this version was the first to bring the song to the attention of the general public. The Kingston Trio often performed it live.

The first hit version of the song came about in 1965, when We Five released 'Let's Get Together' as the follow-up to their top ten hit "You Were on My Mind." While it did not achieve the same level of success as the other, 'Let's Get Together' provided the group with a second top forty hit on the Billboard Hot 100 when it peaked at number thirty-one. It would be their last.

In 1967, The Youngbloods released their version of this song under the title 'Get Together.' "

Personally, I loved their song, "Grizzly Bear." Can't remember the tune or words, now, but I dug it then.
It's cool that the song speaks to you....a characteristic of a good song.

Sorry Silva, It was a great and very moving song, but it was only one of many, on a play list of super great songs from that time period. Chet Powers wrote the song. But there were a lot of songs during that time that came from the heart. Ah yes. If you'll do some research on the songs of that era you'll find a few more that will turn your soul inside out. But thank you. It brought back some fond memories.

Well you did it to me again..perfect song, perfect time. Yes that song was one of the best ever written. I loved the video in your link. The birds work together to get to where they are going..the smaller waters feed together to become larger more forceful ones and then end up feeding into the ocean. All ending up as one if they work together. You know the sensitive time I am in..you hit the nail on the head with the perfect hammer. If we do not (and the song was written and meant for a time long ago but STILL applies) all work together we will not move forward. You take care and thanks again...
