In a December 2000 evening flight from Baltimore to Chicago, I saw the Chicago skyline all lit up while flying over Lake Michigan. It was by far one of the coolest flying experiences ever, seeing the city lights from a tremendous skyline reflecting in the back around on the other side of the lake.

Ive seen the Irish Coastline at night it was beautiful. Also flew over Paris at night but I was on the wrong side to see the Eiffel Tower and too tired to get up and look. I was on my way to Saudi Arabia for the Gulf War so I wasn't exactly in the mood to care a whole lot about it.

Oogly,
In December I flew home late one evening from Las Vegas, seeing Palm Springs at night with all the lights around swimming pools and the palm trees, It was like an Oasis. I like to fly at night as well as drive.

Where I live there are several small towns and quite a bit of country (SC). I had a friend who was a pilot and he would take us up and fly around for fun. You could see several towns at the same time. It was so cool...just lots of darkness and these little patches of sparkles here and there. I wish I could do it again so I could show my kids.

That would be cool but the only time I've flown was over the ocean when I went to Cancun. The only interesting thing I saw was the shoreline.
