works at Wal Mart (I would like to hear from some Canadians please specify the city or town you worked if it doesn't give your identity away) or previously worked at Wal Mart is this true? Can you give me specifics: about how much people are paid? Hours? Expectations of management? What do you like about working there, if anything? Would you recomend this job to someone else?

Wal Mart has an extensive training program for new employees. The problem is that most of them and the management do not follow the training guidelines that are set and there is no enforcement of them. It is actually in their guidelines for all cashiers to say when you come up. Thank you for shopping at Wal Marts did you find everything that you needed today. Check it out next time to see if they really say it. Most worker are seasonal so they don't get paid a lot.

Read the book "Nickel and Dimed" by Barbara Ehrenberg to find out all about working in minimum wage jobs, including Wal*Mart. It really will make you want to not shop there again.

Hi there. I have previously worked for Walmart in Burnaby and yes their pay sucks. You might get a dollar raise in 4 yrs, rates start at 8.75 or 9.75 for managers! Full timers get hours cut to compensate for part timers hours and you're expected to have knowledge in all departments with no proper training. Management is pushy and it's all about who you know to climb the ladder. Hope that helps.

FYI...On tv, an energy expert said that in 9 years there will be a global shortage of gasoline, so that among other problems, we will not have as much global shipping of cheap goods from overseas and we will be rationed gasoline for our cars (and expensive) so that we will not be able to afford driving very far (ie to walmart or meijers, etc) to stock up on groceries to save money...local nearby grocers will probably be favored..to save gas...

I have talked to the cashiers at Walmart they say that they are overworked and underpaid and not appreciated for the work that they do, does that tell you something?
