Well, I use Linux, and even though many people say it's to hard, or complex...it really isn't with all the Distributions out there now, like Ubuntu. It's easy install, put the CD in and follow the install steps. Also, if you plug-in a USB Device, it auto-mounts it like Windows, it comes with all the necessary programs.
If you just want to play games or want to use various well-known programs (iTunes or such), than Windows is the OS for you. It's not to bad, just make sure to have you're Anti-Virus Software all setup. So, overall, Linux is more secure and gives the User full control, and more complex...while Windows allows Games and pretty much any program, but is prone to viruses.

"am i able to have residing house windows 7 OS and Linux OS in an identical laptop?" confident, save on with the educational in the Linux Distro's installation instruction manual. "am i able to have residing house windows 7 OS and Linux OS in an identical working gadget ?" NO, Linux does not run below residing house windows.. Exception: W 7 plus Oracle's (earlier from solar) loose digital field, and a loose important Linux ISO, or Linux CD, and a great number of RAM. Very cool! See below:

Linux is more stable, more secure and reliable than windows.
However, even if there allot of software available for Linux, under windows you have a much broader program available. Generally those programs made for windows have more features.
Linux is beautiful and fast compare to windows. Linux code is more efficient than windows so it consume less system resource than windows.
If you really like gaming don't go for Linux.

Linux is by far better. But if you don't know the difference between windows and linux, then use windows.
Linux is mainly for people who know alot more about computers. You have to go through alot of work to get windows programs to work on it.
The same program will not work on Windows and Linux, unless you have an emulator... even then not all programs will work. Most programs are made for windows, so use windows.
Linux is mainly used for servers and by geeks. :) I don't even use it because it's too much trouble.

If you have money windows is the best, cause just look windows vista features, amazing.... If you cannot buy a windows linux is the best. Users of linux find winodws difficult and users of windows find linux difficult. This is just like a taste, someone like coffee and someone like tea. But, if someone like both, prefer both. So, I use both linux and winodows. Some use Macantosh to have highly grafics and making building and etc grafics...
Windows has advantage that many software companies makes software, amazing games for windows but they also cost money. Linux provides free.
Anyway you can have a free copy of registered Linux operating system if you go the that link.

I suggest a combination of both. It's easy enough to have both operating systems installed and boot to whichever one you want/need to use at the moment. I've got a few different Linux distros already downloaded and ready to be burned to a cd for installation. While I do loathe all of the b.s. that Microsoft is so fond of I have stuck with my XP because I like my games. My innate laziness has also contributed to my sticking it out with windows because it'd take me a little while to learn all the ins and outs of Linux. I'll switch over to Linux once Microsoft has finished alienating me and by that point setting up a game with WINE will no doubt be a piece of cake compared to whatever tyranny Gates is currently thinking up.
