everything ends....except space....makes my brain fried more than a fried egg

ha ha ... I just got done posting an answer of something similar.

Everything has a beginning and end ... that's a rule. Because infinity is both conceptual and theoretical. It's used to simplify math and limits, etc. But we think of everything in terms of limits. There are trillions of cells in the body, and if you think of how many subatomic particles there are in the body, the number has to be zilliontrillionbillions (that's not a number but you get my point). However large of a number that is .. it is limited and has a finite count. Finite.

And if the universe has the same rules (and why wouldn't it), then the universe ends ... right? But the universe is expanding by proof. There are three dimensions to space (and everything except for theoreticals) and particles in each dimension are expanding in the universe. so the universe is expanding. But into what domain is it doing that? If the universe follows the rules of finality, then it has a start and an end, then what's beyond that? But there isn't anything beyond that but if there was, then what would be beyond that?

People have to have an answer to that and since they don't, they come up with loophole, illogical, and impossible theories. That's how the black holes originated I think ... a way the universe is patched together from beginning to end.

Ah, we'll never know, but our brains will itch when we think of it.

Space is indeed enormous and because it is still expanding there is no end to it (so far) I don't think there is an end to space .What would space be next to if it ended.I think space just goes on and on .What hurts my brain is the enormous distance of the stars in space.Even the closed star Alpha Centauri(which is a star system) is 25 trillion 515 billion 777 million 600 thousand miles away (i use miles because i was taught that way).Hypothetically speaking if you could drive on a road to the nearest star at about 5o mph (80 kph) it would take about 58 million years to arrive and some stars are billions of light years away .

Space doesn't have to end at all. It is, in effect, curved. Just like you could walk along the surface of a sphere forever without ever reaching an ending, it's believed that you could hop in a spaceship and travel forever in some arbitrary direction, without reaching an end.

Indeed, I've read about theories that say if you take said spaceship trip, you'll eventually end up right back where you started. I have no idea if that's true or not, but smarter people than me believe in it.

Whether you choose to contemplate space that ends or space that goes on to infinity, your brain is set to hurt. Try not to worry about it too much.

Nobody can really understand the concept of never ending, so I would not worry about it.

Just think, although we know electricity runs through a wire, nobody really understand what it really looks like. yet we use it and could not now live without it.

So, there are things we can measure and prove exist, even if we can't get our minds around them. Like the Big Bang. Evidence shows it to have been a reality, but nobody can imagine the before, or how all the universe can have been contained in a single point.

Anyone who says they understand is just lying.

So, don't worry. You are not alone.

Last I checked, physicists had found what they believe to be the edge of the universe. The problem is that we're seeing it much older than it really is. Billions of years older. That's a long time for something to change.

What should be hurting your brain is the pure *size* of space. If our radio telescopes are looking at light billions of years old, and light travels 299 792 458 meters per second (roughly 670 616 629 mph), and it's taking *billions* of years for that light to reach us... the distances are utterly unfathomable.

well no not everything ends. a ray of light doesn't end. it will only end if something obstructs its path. speaking of space our technology is now advanced enough to even search out of the universe. if you do more reading on the topic you will understand what I'm talking about. read up on light years, light travel. the speed of light is the fastest thing known to mankind. but in order to even find whats on the other side we must be able to travel at the speed of light. so theoretically speak light years is basically the speed of light multiply by our time and you will get light years. its like that sun light we see its like millions of light years away. meaning if stars burn out we should still be able to see those stars at its spot until light years pass by and then it will be gone. very good subject to talk about and also a very good topic to think about.

Every thing has a beginning and an end.
Us,stars and the universe.
Sometimes it might be tough to contemplate but when the incident stops worries go with it.

I don't know if everything ends, but if it does then the number of miles in space must be so large that it would be easier to just say it is endless.
