do you mean effaced? that is the term they use when your cervix begins to thin out. for example, I was 80% effaced and 2 cm dilated for the two weeks before I had my daughter. to give birth vaginally, your cervix must be 100% effaced and 10 cm dilated. good luck

First off, it's "effaced" not effected. Basically it's to judge how thinned out your cervix is, which leads to dialation. Basically, if you're 80% effaced, then you're really close to being dialated or moving on to the next stage of dialation.

Effacement is the term for the cervix thinning. It goes from a little pokey outey thing up there and feeling a kind of like the end of your nose, to going softer and thinning out to the width of a piece of paper.

effaced, the cervix becomes thinner as it dialates
