It just sounds like a hormone imbalance. It happens. It shouldn't last too much longer but if so, bring it up at your doctor next time. Birth control will regulate your period but I understand not wanting to go on it. I'm irregular as well. I have a period some months, other months I don't, some months I have up to three! Your doctor probably doesn't find it weird because its not uncommon, as my doctor told me. She also told me the only thing I could do to change this was to get on birth control, I don't want to. The weight gain..I don't need that. Try to be consistent in everything you do, diet, exercise...it should help but if worse comes to worse, tell your doctor everything and that you think its a problem she needs to address

why don't you want to try birth control? that worked for me except I kind of had the opposite problem- I had my period for 2 months straight and then kept getting it every 2 weeks!

My gyno said it was probably because I wasn't actually ovulating so my body didn't have a regular hormone pattern. I've been taking Yasmin for almost 6 years now and it has made my period regular as well as super light and it lasts only 2/3 days. It's also cleared up my skin, and it didn't make me gain weight or make my boobs grow.

Go to a gynecologist, see what they recommend.

FIRST OF ALL, YES BIRTH CONTROL CAN HELP YOUR PERIOD BECOME MORE REGULAR.

BUT SOMETIMES DURING THE FIRST COUPLE YEARS AFTER YOU START YOUR PERIOD, IT MAY BE IRREGULAR. THAT MAY BE WHY YOUR DOCTOR DOESNT THINK MUCH OF THE IRREGULARITY. IT SHOULD START TO BECOME MORE REGULAR AS YOU GET OLDER.

IF AGE ISNT THE PROB, IRREGULAR PERIODS CAN BE DUE TO PROBLEMS WITH YOUR OVARIES.
THERE IS A MEDICAL PROBLEM KNOWN AS POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME WHICH CAN CAUSE IRREGULAR PERIODS.
WITH THIS PROBLEM YOUR BODY IS NOT RELEASING ENOUGH HORMONES TO RELEASE THE EGG. THEN NOT HAVING ANYWHERE TO GO, THE EGG STAYS IN THE OVARIES, BECOMES OLD AND EVENTUALLY TURNS INTO A LITTLE CYST. BECAUSE NO EGG IS RELEASED, YOU DO NOT GET YOUR PERIOD.
EACH MONTH YOU DONT GET IT...ITS ANOTHER EGG THAT IS STUCK IN YOUR OVARIES.
EVENTUALLY THIS CAN LEAD TO MANY MEDICAL PROBLEMS INCLUDING OVARIAN CANCER.
SO I SUGGEST THAT YOU GET THIS CLARIFIED WITH YOUR DOCTOR. TRY BRINGING UP THE DISORDER, OR SIMPLY ASK HER WHY IT IS IRREGULAR SO YOU CAN GET THE PROPER MEDICAL ATTENTION THAT YOU NEED.

How old are you? And how active are you? Your age and activity level can have a large impact on your regularity. I'm the same way. I'm 19 and I'm very active, I just got my period after 8 weeks and its only been 2 days, and I'm almost done.

If you're anywhere from your mid teens to early 20's its normaly for your bodys hormonal levels to keep changing. Enjoy the time off while you can, others out there are suffering on a monthly basis.

Nothing to worry about, just go about your days as you normally would and enjoy the extended break

I had/have polycystical ovarian syndrome, little cists in my ovaries so I menstruated like every 10 months. I take birth control pills to make me have a period ea. month. The best thing is to talk to an obgyn about it.

I don't want to scare you but ask your Dr. to check your prolactin levels. Mine level was high and I found out that I have a tumor on my pituitary gland. It's hormone secreting so it eventually stops your period and also causes infertility.
